Depends what else goes with the pick.

That's the problem...I like Nash, but Columbus are going to have high demands...I just don't see the logic in emptying the team to get him

Emelin is gonna get $6 million because he was the reason Russia won Gold so the Canadiens know they need him to win.

I remember reading somewhere that they were asking for 5 assets, whether it is players or picks.

You probably missed it. But did you see the article a while ago where Burke made a comment about needing a top line centre on the team. How all the great teams have that threat up the middle. Can you (frank)ing believe the nerve on that guy? (frank)ing constant whining. Can't wait until he gets fired and the next GM does interviews.

“Ben’s playing excellent and he’s performing at a higher level than we anticipated at this point of his career, but it’s a lot to ask of a guy like that to jump in and possibly be a 40-game guy (next year),” Nonis told Brady & Lang on Sportsnet 590 The Fan on Friday.

so, a 26-year-old playing well in the AHL, and this exceeds Maple Leaf management's expectations.

boy, those are some mighty high standards that have been set in Toronto.

I think his point is that at that age he's probably in his prime. Not a ton more upside but is still talked about like he's a prospect.

Alexei Emelin took gold home with a powerhouse Russian squad that essentially slaughtered its competition at the World Championships of Hockey. And he was among their best players in the tournament. Strong feat for the young Russian, ahead of an important contract negotiation with newly minted GM Marc Bergevin.

What will he be worth to the Canadiens, as a 26 year-old restricted free agent who can easily sign short, and go to unrestricted free agency in a year?

What should the strategy be with him? Can they keep him at a reasonable number for this season and negotiate a new deal later on, to avoid a tough situation next summer?

In this new era of Canadiens hockey, is it safe to assume the days of not signing players during the season are behind us?

so, a 26-year-old playing well on a stacked National team not playing the best players the world has to offer and this sits well with Montreal media?
