3 way deal... Vanek to Chicago
Kane to Pittsburgh
J.Staal to Buffalo

To many quality RW in Chicago and pretty weak on the left...
Toews happy to be rid of Kane...

Crosby gets a great winger to play with... Malkin/Neal Crosby/Kane...

Buffalo gets the big center they covet... J.Staal happy to be a #1

Just the bones of a deal I am sure everyone would have a tweak here or there..

For everyone who is thinking they can get Suter for 5-6 million, keep dreaming..Maybe for 1 or 2 years, but you would have to give up so much to get that, it would be worth it. Trust me, Poile will trade Suters rights before he become as UFA.

I would venture to say, if he leaves, he is looking at 7.0 million. If he stays in NSH, he may accept as much as 6.5, no lower. And that is because he knows that the team still needs money left over to bring in more talent.

Now, the wild card is Weber. If Weber ends up signing for more then 7.5 Suter will want at least 7.

- dgutzman

Suter wouldn't have to sign with the team that has his rights - he can still opt to become a free agent. So unless it's a team he wants to play for at the money he wants, I can't see the trade happening.

I would love to see Suter and Weber stay in Nashville. Not that I wouldn't love both of them on the Hawks, it's just that it kind of defeats the purpose of the salary cap if teams can't afford to keep their players,

Keith. My reasoning is that it takes D-men longer to develop, so with that in mind Keith has more trade value than Kane. With Keith gone, you could afford a very cheap offensive D-man to replace Keith's skill.

I honestly feel bad for whoever signs Ryan Suter.

Anything over 6 million for him is an insane overpayment.

As a Preds fan, I completely agree with you.

I watch him night in and night out, and he will be challenged when not opposite Weber.

Don't get me wrong here. He is consistent and solid with the puck. However, Weber makes the pairing look really good.

One thing Suter is not, is a scoring D man. He is tentative to shoot the puck and the main reason his assists were high this year was because 1) Weber has a cannon and 2) He was on the point for a top rated power play.

5.5-6 would be a good price for Suter opposite Weber. Out of Nashville, no Weber, I bet he looks more like a 4-4.5 type of guy that someone will overpay.

I honestly won't be surprised if we move/drop Suter, resign Weber long term and place Ryan Ellis in Suter's spot. In the long run, I wouldn't mind as a fan because Ellis has a great shot and will be a good D man.

Suter is a slight upgrade to Matt Carle. Insanely similar dmen. I've read up and down these boards for the last few months how Suter is this "#1 Dman" who's going to command 7+ million dollars this off-season, and I just laugh.

Anyone who's actually watched Suter play's knows hes not an elite defensemen.

Yeah. I think Poile is smart enough to keep him long term at a solid 5 million maybe but over that I think we are betting the farm especially as deep as our farm system is.

#1 D Man...Nope. Very solid D Man...Yes.

Keith 3rd year of LT contract
Hossa 4th year of LT contract
Kane and Toews 3rd of 5yr contract
Sharp 1st year of 5 yr
Seabs 2nd year of 5 yr
Hjram 3rd year of 4 yr

7, 2, 19 and 88 have no trade or no movement clauses...81 and 10 do not.

Sharp not going anywhere with that new 30+ mil contract about to kick in and with Hossa a health ???.

The K boys...doubtful a move with either of them. Kane more likely but not for just salary clearing purposes.

So if Sutter is coming....salary clearing will most likley be #4.

- bogiedoc

Pretty sure Kane & Toews no trade does not kick in for a year or 2

Correct. Also, didn't Sharp get a NTC/NMC in his new contract? That wouldn't affect their ability to move him before 7/1, but would be a problem after that.

he'd fit well with Jbo

an overpaid pair. Both great players, but their price tag will make the fans grumble.

However....Gio and Suter would compliment each other nicely as a top pairing.

anyone want Jbo?

Why would he want to go to Calgary? From what JJ said he wants to be closer to his family in Madison, WI. I would guess he would stay with Nashville or go to many other teams before going to Calgary. Not all that close to Madison. Just checked the miles.
Chicago to Madison 146 miles
Minneapolis to Madison 268 miles
Detroit to Madison 428 miles
Nashville to Madison 621 miles
Calgary to Madison 1456 miles
Just to show a few.

What do you guys think of the rumor my jets fan buddy heard last week. Kane and Stalberg for Dustin B., Ladd. And chi 2nd. Also I highly doubt Suter signs with hawks but right now you guys and 29 other teams have a chance. I say Gagner is a hawk at the draft.

If Gagner is a Hawk, so is Kane. Some of the fun is reuniting Kane and Ganger for a 2/3 London Knights' line.

I actually believe Philly has a shot. They seem like a perfect team for his robust style. And as great as he is, teams are gonna overpay massive. Praise is gonna resign in NJ with the nice playoff run. Making Suter far and away the best player available. I bet he gets over 7 mil per. That's way too much for him but he is gonna find it somewhere

Philly would have to move quite a few parts to get Suter, I don't see that happening.

Would your opinion change if the league raises the cap?
- EKolb13

Maybe, if it went up a lot. I kind of think two $3-4 million guys would be money better spent, and if the cap goes up significantly then I think I'd rather add 3 solid vets than one overpriced D-man. For close to the same money, I'd rather have Matt Carle AND Bryan Allen.

Let the photo shopping begin!Quick someone put Ryan's head on Gary's shoulders in the Indian Head and send it to him so he get's a nice warm feeling in his heart and decides to come to Chicago
- captainserious

Haha, its just a picture of Gary but they look eerily similar

6.2 million for the next 7 years would be a solid deal for him and worth it for the Hawks on multiple levels. Think of the commercials alone. Plenty of cap space. They have 6.8 to spend and with 12 skaters 6 defenders and 2 goalies on the line up for next fall. PLUS the kicker what ever it will be when the cap goes up PLUS 3.5 for moving Hammer when that happens.

All kinds of monies to spend if they are flexible regarding who they move. Frolik moves, then bang another 2.3.

They can move Stalberg with Frolik and/or Hammer to get some quality role players/picks to offer sheet or Sharp to get someone bawsome though I doubt that happens in real life.

The Hawks are in a very advantageous situation right now as they have some very movable and valuable assets that don't quite fit into to what they want to do and a crap ton of cap space should they decide not to pee into the wind.

Totally agree. Those two would work for me or swap Carle's name for Wideman. I also agree with some others about Suter's contract putting us in a situation where too much money is being committed to too few players.
