Then enjoy Reimer - VANTEL
Reimer and Scrivens... sounds good to me. about 2.8 mill in goalies for the season.
They preform..great, they suck... lottery pick here we come.

You're not buying, Burke and Nonis are. Where can you find some written material with Burke saying "I don't like Luongo"? I'll wait. He doesn't like these type of contracts I agree, but the front loaded heavy money has been paid out. I suspect Burke likes working as oppose to not work as a GM, he'll do whatever it takes to win NEXT YEAR! - LeftCoaster
Nonis thinks Lu is the best in the game. |

TO has no hope for the next 2 years with this team of seeing the playoffs. There are very few impact goalies that could help your team RIGHT NOW.Take a pill and relax and next year we will be bashing him ,and you will be praising him, but it is your only chance of making the playoffs. - VANTEL
Dude. Seriously. Quit pretending like you know the Leafs and what's best for them. You sound like a used car salesman when it comes to Luongo and the Leafs.
On the flipside, I guess we could also say that Vancouver's "ONLY CHANCE" to win a cup is in the next 2 years, because in 2 years the Sedin's will be 34 and it already appears that their best years are behind them given that their production has been steadily declining for the past 3 years.
Give it a rest. |

Why on earth would a major market that cares about hockey want to trade for Roberto? He couldn't handle Vancouver, so he can handle Toronto? LOL.
He should be going to Tampa, Columbus types. - Oneonta Penguin
He can't handle Vancouver? Enlighten me...what the hell are you talking about? He was voted for the Vezina twice in Vancouver |

the money is not a problem in Toronto..its the cap hit...for 10 years
Burke is good with trades... I trust he sees the value (or lack thereof) in Lu and the contract, and only takes it on the cheap cheap.

This is laughable. Have you not seen his stats over his tenure in Vancouver, a place once considered a goalie graveyard? The guy has been a rock. Not his fault the team entirely disappeared a few time in the playoffs and he took the heat.
What's your evaluation of Fleury after this year's playoffs? |

Luongo only makes sense for the right price.
Vokoun, Thomas, Harding, and maybe some others are available this off season. If Reimer or Scrivens are the "real deal" than we only need a goalie for 2 or 3 years to take the pressure off of them. Not someone locked up for the next 10 years.
So, the question becomes... do you think Reimer, Scrivens, or Owuya will be as good as Luongo will be in 3 years? - ILoveLamp
Nope.
Scrivens maybe...but not Reimer...Owuya I haven't seen enough of. |

the "lottery" picks (top 5) Van has have helped no?
Sedin
sedin
Luongo
I believe it took the sedins 5 or 6 years to realize the potential... maybe give Edm the same time..then comment

Better it be the Leafs than the 'Hawks. All I can say is "good luck" to all the Maple Leaf fans hoping that it'll not get to a half-century. |

Eklund: Luongo "very much" on Leafs Radar. - Eklund
Depends what the goal is from the Leafs POV.
If the goal is to solely make the playoffs, then this trade makes sense for the Leafs - Loungo is clearly superior to any other goalie in their system and any potential UFAs.
If the goal is to build a cup team, I think this would be a mistake. And not because of the stigma attached to Lou and playoffs, but more so, because it will take the Leafs another 2-3 seasons (at best) to be true cup contenders (if everything goes right)... by then you have an aging goalie with an albatross of a contract (from a cap hit perspective), which is likely impacting the Leafs ability to sign key players to contracts.

Nope. They're taking komiserek if we gotta take a 34 year old goalie with ten years left. And no it won't be with gardiner and a first rounder lol. You can have carter Ashton and a second rounder. Actually lets go with not getting him at all. I still like that deal way better |

because kulemin, reimer, macarthur ALL still have a VALUE that can be traded for other guys like chris stewart or stasny .. not some crappy as contract that extends to billion years later that vancouver wants to get rid of and then sign schneider to a extension where they also have a backup for him |

a bag of pucks would just do it, but need to send some cap back, so komisarek, a 3rd rounder, maybe a prospect like mueller. |
