Luongo had a very good past season in Vancouver. He is still an elite guy with 4 or 5 top years ahead in his career. Florida and Tampa will not be the only teams to step up. Also look for teams like Chicago, Columbus, Anahiem and, the one I find strangest, Ottawa to kick the tires on a possible deal. - spatso
He had decent stats on the presidents trophy team... the backup had much better numbers...hmmm
on Toronto... Lu has average to just above average stats..still better than what they got last season... In tampa, probably similar... Florida should just ignore Van

but your selling 33-43 year old Luongo ... not 28-33 year old Luongo
The price has dropped... almost to the point Van just needs to walk away....they owe more on the mortgage than the house is worth - senstroll
You don't want a top 15 goalie for the next 6 years at 5.3 mil? |

for a rock bottom price... maybe if you take one of Komi, Connolly, Lombardi or Armstrong....and we find a way to move 2 more of them ... I can see him fitting on the team.
and its 10 years ..you cant just tell people to buy a shorter contract when its longer |

It will be for Schenn.
Everyone knows he will not be returning to play the final years. That contract was designed to be cap friendly.Do you think he will train like a madman in the summers to come back and play for 1 mil? |

It;s where I thought Lu would be dealt all along, question is what's the price?
Guaranteed Komisarek is going the other way but his value is a heck of alot less than Lu.
My guess is the final price will be something like Komisarek, McArthur and a 2nd round pick for Lu and David Booth. - willey101
TO robs Vancouver in that deal. Not going to happen. If Van takes Komisarek, something of value has to come with him, something of more value than Mackarthur and a 2nd, and they wouldn't be throwing Booth in, either. |

TO has no hope for the next 2 years with this team of seeing the playoffs. There are very few impact goalies that could help your team RIGHT NOW.Take a pill and relax and next year we will be bashing him ,and you will be praising him, but it is your only chance of making the playoffs. |

Since it's obvious to everyone that the Canucks need to dump his salary if they're going to pursue Parise &/or Suter, I highly doubt that anyone's going to give up much except for maybe Howson. Then, would Luongo go to the BJs? Doubt it. |

if Gillis discovers the only way to move Luongo would be to take a bad contract back... Ie Komisarek, Schneider will be moved. That simple |

dont care... If I am buying... you would get to value based on a 10 year deal... or walk away.
Burke doesnt like them either. Van should be punished for trying to cheat the system |

Why on earth would a major market that cares about hockey want to trade for Roberto? He couldn't handle Vancouver, so he can handle Toronto? LOL.
He should be going to Tampa, Columbus types. |

You've got it mixed up. Lou stole many games for the Canucks this year. The defense was pretty bad all season, and if Lou and Schneider hadn't bailed them out, they definitely would not have won the PT.
Schneider's stats were better because he's the better goalie. Lou still had a great season, and is an elite goaltender. |

This does not make much sense to me.
Luongo has a no trade contract, he wants to be Florida based, he wants to play for a contender. And, both the Panthers and Bolts want him. Both Florida teams are rich in prospects and can offer up a player without the Canucks having to take back salary. Florida is in better shape than Tampa on that front. But, I don't know what the Leafs can offer. Can someone explain to me how the Leafs become a part of this discussion. - spatso
How, on Gods green earth are the Panthers better off Prospect wise? Me thinks you've been sucking on the crack pipe WAY to long. |

When once was it ever stated he couldn't handle Vancouver?
He would still be there now only for the fact that they have a younger cheaper option in Schneider.
This has zero to do with not being able to handle the market |

People tend to forget Lou's best stats were on horrid Panthers teams..

I honestly wouldn't mind the NYI taking Luongo on for cheap (say Anders Lee + 2012 3rd round pick).
We could let Luongo and Nabakov split time for the first 40 games then ship Nabakov to a contender who needs goaltending for a 1st round pick in 2013 (see Chicago, Toronto, Tampa Bay, Florida, New Jersey, etc.). |

The real question is what will he be worth next summer when it is apparent he doesn't perform well undwer a microscope. He will be lights out from mid February to the end of the season and the Leafs will finish 9th. |

You're not buying, Burke and Nonis are. Where can you find some written material with Burke saying "I don't like Luongo"? I'll wait. He doesn't like these type of contracts I agree, but the front loaded heavy money has been paid out. I suspect Burke likes working as oppose to not work as a GM, he'll do whatever it takes to win NEXT YEAR! |
