But.... like i said the canucks dont NEED to get rid of lou. The leafs need the playoffs, bad.
- Deadmau55

Why?

Seriously, why?

They don't have a rapidly closing window on a shot at their first overall cup. The ownership is among the richest in the league and the Leafs just keep adding to it.

You don't follow hockey do you? Look at chi situation a couple seasons back. They had to move guys. No choice. Literally could not fit under the cap. With your rational all teams could sit and allow them to have an illegal roster. Teams become desprete to make themselves better.

Well, considering this was the subject of a long discussion between Kypreos and Maclean a couple weeks ago...

You may not like or respect Kypreos or Maclean, but they have forgotten more about hockey player, the current NHL, and spelling, than you will ever know.

I am sorry that you cannot answer the question.
I did not use a question mark, because it was rhetorical.

Vancouver had a FAR more disappointing playoffs. In fact, I would gladly watch the Leafs fail again next year if Vancouver gets to fail even harder vs. expectation.

Fixed.

The thing that softens the blow is that the Canucks will still be contenders for several more years. The core is still in it's prime, and the Canucks don't have many areas that need to be addressed. There's always the chance they could be the next SJ, but I think the team has been managed well enough that they won't.

I'm sorry. How many GWG's did Luongo score again? I really hate when people say a goalie won this or that for their team. It has never happened in the history of hockey. A great goalie can keep his team in the game, but he will never win the game. Goals win games, people, not saves. A goalie only needs to make more saves than his opposing netminder. Skaters need to crash and bang and push their bodies beyond natural limits to score the goals that win the game.

End of lesson. Class dismissed.

They have a solid core, but it is showing some signs of aging and you have some question marks on D... the Sedins are also getting older. I thought Vancouver was the best team in the NHL this year, but they failed.

They failed hard.

Is LA going anywhere? Is Nashville? is Phoenix?, Chicago, Boston, NYR, Pitt Philadelphia, St, Louis... the point is that those teams also have a good core and in most cases, their *key* players are significantly younger.

Well, they did what only one other team has done so far...win a game vs the Kings.

Your boys already had a great team, and just got it all together at the right time...and have Jonathan Quick. If the Canucks made it through the Kings, they'd be in the SCF right now.

You make it sound like the Leafs are life and death as an organization to make the playoffs.

I was not being sarcastic. You don't have a leg to stand on with this arguement.

If there is ONE TEAM IN THE WHOLE LEAGUE who can afford to keep missing the playoffs, it is Toronto.

... the fanbase is desparate, but the money keeps rolling in.

I think this is absolutely true.

In fact, if the Canucks got by LA, they would probably have won the cup.

I will take that as a great compliment, thank you friend. It would have been worse I think if the kings beat the canucks, and then the kings get swept or whatever.

Look at what LA is doing. Part of it was that they are a very good team, the other is that they harnessed lightning in a bottle, and everything went their way. The Canucks still won 1 of only 2 games the Kings have lost in the playoffs, and were missing they're top offensive weapon for 3 of the 5 games.

No, a few of those teams aren't going anywhere—although I would call a couple flashes-in-the-pan, and I would put the Canucks ahead of a couple. The point is, with the proper tweaks, the Canucks still be among those teams for several years.

Kings were built for the playoffs. After seeing them in the first round, I was pretty sure nobody in the West would beat them. Didn't think it would be this easy for them, though.

The Canucks have a major gap IMO. Mainly....they're top end talent doesn't show up in the playoffs...and they don't have any backbone (i.e., Callahan's, Brown's, etc.)

Sorry fella...just as I have to face facts that my team sucks....you have to give your head a shake if you actually think your team would've made it to the SC finals if they had beaten LA.

If the canucks beat la, then it goes to reason they are better then la. and no team is better then la right now. so the canucks would have steamrolled anyone they played.

I'm not saying they would've beaten you...but they would've matched up a lot better than the teams you've played thus far.

%100 they would have beat Pho, STL, and NSH. NSH is the only one that I would have worried about.

Sedins have been decent playoff performers (2 and 3 in PO points last year), it's the secondary scoring that has dried up in the playoffs.

edit: I've seen some of the comments you've made about the Canucks before, so I already know you don't have an objective opinion, as civil as you're being at the moment.

Hey idiot, how long did it take the Sedins to become elite players?

It won't be long before your window is closed and Edmonton will be far closer to a cup than the Canucks are.

... and the rest of North America will love it.

- GoneFullRetard

Shhhhh.... don't tell them. And the Sedins were elite from the moment they were drafted by the worst GM any franchise ever had.

Like I said....I see two major holes in the Canucks....and until they're addressed, there is no guarantee that they beat any of the teams you listed...
