and i can see that point of view

but i can also see the "ugh, just not the friggin year of the trades" point of view as well. and its not about hating richards or carter...

im not saying you should feel that way.. but to completely not understand why some fans do, is just odd to me

People have different feelings, happens everyday in life. I agree with you.

It's close between those too but I'd take Giroux. Although I loved Lindros.

I'm just saying that people shouldn't be upset that they could potentially win a Cup with the Kings. We have a better chance with the players that we got in return for them than we ever did with them here. Personally, I don't really care who wins the Cup.
- NickTheKid87

Ideally it would be the Devils.. so I can again say: We lost to the best.

It doesn't at all. I'm rooting for the Kings to win it all. If the Flyers can't win it, I want the Kings to win it. For all of the past Flyers there and players that I'm a fan of. It's just Hockey in the big picture. And I know and feel that the Flyers have a bright future. Some one dies or you have a serious personal issue, that stings. This is just sports.

Good for (frank)ing you! Everyone has the right to root for whomever they like without having to answer to you.

I'm going to send another mod in for the day.

Who will go to the Devils games if they make it to the Cup? LA is too far away unlike Philadelphia and New York.

I agree. If Scott Stevens didn't exist, Lindros would still be playing and we'd see him in the HOF on the 1st ballot.

I think Kaspiritis had a bigger influence on his demise than Stevens. Kaspiritis shattered the glass... Stevens knocked it out of the window.

You are one of many of us that waste multiple hours on this website a week, crap even day sometimes. I understand the personal issue death thing. Yes it is just sports. I don't consider us even typical flyer fans. We all have borderline Problems with the amount of time we spend on here. To be flabbergasted at the thought that people on here may have jealous or spiteful thoughts with regards to the kings. I don't understand it. My blood boils prob because I have only been alive for one Philadelphia championship. In a sport that is at the bottom of the totum pole

Because the goal.. and the only goal.. is to win a cup. We moved away from the two top "core" guys, and now they are looking like they are gonna win it... and we have to watch them smile and skate around all happy. It shouldnt have been that way. Am I happy with the moves.. yes I am. Would I have been happy if they hadnt made the extreme moves, and Richards and Carter would have turned the act around... yes I would. They should have won a cup here. It didnt happen.

NOW, with all of that said. I hope to HELL they win the cup. Why? Because I know it will make our guys want it that much more next year. It will burn them to see those two skate around the ice with the cup. I know it from just the competitive passion I have as an athlete. I know it will motivate not just the guys that were here with Richards and Carter, but the guys who were staple parts of that trade. Guys like Simmonds and Schenn. Coots maybe... Voracek maybe.. but as a whole.. it sucks seeing your former teammates and captain parade around while you sit at home.

Thats why its going to suck.

- jak521

Just my two cents : it would be brutal to watch say Ovechkin/Semin leave the Caps (who have never won anything) and win a Cup the next season with another team that has never won anything, regardless of what the return might have been in a potential trade (the future is great, but no guarantees about how players are going to turn out, whether or not it will ever equate to a Cup, etc). Anyone who minimizes specifically the contribution of Richards on that Kings team is misguided IMO.

BTW, how about those Nats !

Richards has been solid but Carter not as much. He was never good in the playoffs for us either though.

Basically what I'm saying is that Richards and Carter were integral to our success here. In LA they have lesser roles. Brown, Kopitar and Quick are the guys that make the Kings the team they are.

- NickTheKid87

Carter had a hat trick a few games ago and pretty much won that game for LA. I would say that he is streaky (so I see where you're coming from) and while not contributing game in and game out at his potential. Almost single handedly winning a game in the POS is significant though IMHO.

I dont understand how ppl find the Devils more boring than the Rags.

I for one have found the Devils to be pretty freaking exciting. They forecheck better than any team, they have explosive forwards to go with gritty forwards, they work their asses off... and on top (as much as I have hated him) I kinda wanna see Marty go out on top. I like that kinda stuff.

Oh, and if ALF gets another (frank)ing cup ring Ill lose it!

Carter has had one good game in the postseason and Richards has been nothing more than a glorified role player. Good for them if they win but they weren't/aren't good enough to LEAD a team to the Cup. Simmonds, Schenn, Voracek and Couturier make the Flyers a much better team and Giroux is the best player this franchise has seen since Bobby Clarke. The future looks bright for us.

i get that you say you arent affected by it..

but to say you dont understand how, for some, seeing the 2 faces of the franchise possibly hoisting the Cup together the very year they were traded from a rabid hockey city that hasnt won since 1975 would kind of sting, is simply bizarre, imo

The Devils have been the better team in the series imo even though they are tied two games a piece. I like the way the Devils play. I like Parise so I wouldnt mind seeing him capture the cup.

(sarcasm)Take your two cents and shove it.. You cant actually believe you wouldnt root for AO and Semin if they were in the cup with a different team! Even if it was the Pens you would cheer them to win the cup! (/sarcasm)

Like I said.. it is frustratingly bittersweet.

As for those Nats.. they are gonna be a hell of a team to watch for the next decade...

So does this mean if Carle walks we get to continue hearing the haters vs the lovers well into next summer? There is constant tug of war in here between personal and public opinion. Apparently there isn't room for both.

My dislike for torts and the rags outweighs my disdain for Broduer and the Devils. That said, I'm rooting for the Kings. I don't want to see another Atlantic division team crowned champions again before the flyers.

He's never been good enough in the playoffs. Part of the reason he couldn't be a core player here. You need those kinds of guys to step up. Jeff Carter career in the playoffs: 61 GP, 17 G, 13 A, 30 PTS, -12, 3 GWG. That's not good enough for a talent like him.
