Penner has been an out of shape disinterested player for a while, but he still has the talent to play and obviously come up big when needed. I would take him back on the Oilers for sure. Good on him and congrats to the Kings.

Agree entirely, we need to wave goodbye to the days when someone with potential gets a spot on the big club because of said potential. We need everyone to be earning their spots. PRV and Harti need to make it so there is no question about it, they are better than the other options.

LAK will plan to resign him. I think LAK will try to rid of Gagne since he only has one year left on his term, let go of Stoll and resign Penner to play on the 2nd line with Carter and Richards. LAK has enough depth to switch things around to get a 3C and 4C. I think LAK would be open to resign him to $3.5 over 2 years as long as LAK can rid of Gagne.

When he was a $2mil - $2.5mil per season possible re-sign, I thought the Oilers should consider Penner because he'd bring size to the Top 6. At the $4mil per he's going to command now, he's a terrible potential signing. $4mil is an awful lot to pay someone who sleepwalks his way through 60 games per season.

I was assuming the lowest Smyth would go was $4 million for some reason so if they can get him for $2-3 million I'll be very happy. I hope Paajarvi pans out to become a solid 2nd line winger soon but as long as they don't rush him especially since there would be no need to if they sign Smyth for 2 years.
