That third ny goal was a prime example of what is wrong with the NHL.

That was actually the first time I've seen the trapezoid do what it was supposed to do.

Most times the goalie would have played the puck unknowingly and gotten 2 minutes. Instead the puck gets flipped at the net, Marty stops it and the Rangers player pushes him in the net with his stick. GOAL. Its a goal but pure garbage. Not a skill play at all.

You could say the same for any goal that gets hacked at for a rebound. It's not a skill goal, but I can think of a laundry list of things I'd rather get rid of in this game before plays like that.

Watch the replay, the Rangers player pushes Marty into the net. Its just awful. Doesn't matter now though.

No, I know what you mean, but plays like that are never going to get called in the playoffs unless they're blatant. That's the way it's always been, pre-lockout and post-lockout. No use in complaining about it now.

Watching this year's playoffs has been very depressing. Many people were hoping for the Sabres to tank for a higher draft pick around mid-March. At that time I still thought the Sabres would make the playoffs and people repeatedly said things like 'Who cares? The goal isn't to get to 8th place.' Fast forward to now where we already have an 8th place team in the cup finals with a #6 seed 1 win away from joining them. Could the Sabres have made it to the finals if they got into the playoffs? Probably not. But as this years playoffs have shown with teams like the Pens, Canucks, Red Wings, Blackhawks, and Bruins losing in the first round, they had as good a shot as anyone. Make the playoffs and you never know.

LA was in just as bad of shape at one point as the Sabres. That would be why their coach got fired. See the difference?

Now, I'm not saying Lindy is a bad coach. I also don't think Terry Murray is a bad coach. But the difference is the GM/Ownership realized that something needed to change and that the team itself wasn't going to change, therefore the odd man out was the coach. Interesting food for thought isn't it?

That's what happens when your owner essentially comes out and says the coach has a lifetime contract. If my boss told me no matter how poopty of a job I did I'd never be fired would I stay motivated to do my best? Probably not.

As much as I'm not really a fan of Roy, the fact that he said Lindy wasn't taking the time to sit down and go over film with them and just felt the need to yell at them all the time is concerning. Especially when everyone thought that the two of them had a good relationship and all. That worries me. Isn't that his job?

I actually liked everything Roy said in that exit interview. He explained a bit why he may have started slow and had an off year without sounding like he was making excuses and he didn't shy away from saying what he thought about Ruff criticizing players to the media. A point I happen to agree with. For $4 million a year I'd like to keep him for 2nd/3rd line center duties and see how he rebounds in a contract year and reevaluate at the trade deadline based on both his and the team's performance.

One time in a 100 and whatever years is not a trend, its the exception(thats if they even win it).

IMO the 2011-12 Kings>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>the 2011-12 Sabres.

The team I root for lacks heart in a big way.

Honestly lady Goose, No.

The coach is always easier to fire than 20 or so players. Thats always been the way things arerun for every team but this one for the last 13ish or so years.

While I may agree with what he said, he's still a little b!tch and should've kept it behind closed doors.

I would say most of us feel the time has come for Ruff to be 86'd. I don't need to hear it from Derek "How fast can I get to the Strip" Roy.

And that goes for all the players on this team not living up to their end of the bargin for that matter.

Since the lockout an 8 seed has now made it twice and a 7 seed made it once as well. Not to mention a 6 seed if Jersey gets there. The league has more parity now than it ever has. I expect to see a 5-8 seed get to the cup finals every couple years.

That whole 'behind closed doors' thing is crap. The coach should lose that privilege when he decides to chastise players in the press. If anyone other than Derek Roy had been the person to say this I think fewer people would have a problem with it.
