For a Quick & dirty explanation: every one way contract counts against the cap in the summer. So, Pronger, Matt Walker, etc count.

So, with a $69mm cap, the Flyers can actually have $75.9mm on the cap in the summer, which has to be under $69mm when the season starts. Under that $75.9mm, teams also have to count any qualifying offers made to RFA's. So, if they offer Jake a standard 10% QO, they have to count his deal against that $76.9mm, too.

Plus every player on a 2 way deal in proportion to the amount of time they spent on the roster last Season.

This would be a compliment if artistically modified to Boyle's image.

Guessing he'll stay with the Rags, but I like Brandon Prust...
- aightwebang17

Well, signing a heart and soul guy from our arch-rival worked pretty well for us last year (with Talbot and our success vs. the Pens). Maybe it's time we did the same thing with the Rangers.

If you can't beat 'em, sign 'em?

EDIT - we could get rid of Rinaldo if we signed Prust. No need for both.

I remember now....if anyone questions JVR's drive or toughness ever again in here, I will round up a posse, drive to your house, and take you to task for your ignorance.

Meniscus tear in his hip, an oblique tear, a concussion and a groin pull, broken/infected foot? Is that all?

Pffffffttt. Bobby Baun scored the game winner in overtime during the '64 finals on a broken leg.

Kids today are wimps.

Wouldn't be surprised to see JVR start the year with the phantoms or loaned to some KHL team. Clearly not NHL material.

The Talbot signing was outstanding and the Flyers should be looking for one more guy like him -- as opposed to a Zach Parise, imo.

I understand that, if the Flyers were to sign Parise, they could trade some offensive depth for a defenseman. But at some point, you have to identify a core group of players and roll with it for a couple of seasons. How are you developing that chemistry is you keep adding and subtracting guys from your "core" every season?

The Flyers have some great pieces to build around. Add another Talbot-like player, add another defenseman, trade Bryzgalov and let's roll.

Usually I'd be nervous by such a threat, but you're probably as soft as JVR.
