"8, count 'em 8, defensemen under contract for next season. Add up all the money that Regier has committed to his blue line. Some one has to move out via trade.
THat doesn't even count Brennan who is on the cusp. Someone is getting moved. My money is on Weber or Regehr. - Buffalo--Sabres
I think moving Regehr would be a mistake and also reflect badly on the organization. It makes much more sense to move Sekera while he has value and Weber if anyone will take him.

i think they should keep Regher.. i know he is getting old and probably not worth the contract value.. but he is the vet of the group and is a defensive dman.. move weber, leo, sekera or brennan before him

If you thought that then you must not have been that familiar with what you want in an NHL defenseman.
Plus I don't rememeber anyone "clamoring for him".
Chris Butler on the other hand... - sambarugh
I didn't think that at all. I'm basing most of it on the talk around here last summer. Several on these boards were overly impressed with his play against Philly and refused to think that it could have been a flash in the pan.

To clarify, I wasn't referring to 'you'. I'm saying if 'one' thought that way.

Roy for sucking-------Hes been hated for a long time I just pretend as if hes not even out there
Leino for making too much money----- ill give the guy another shot this year
Weber for taking stupid penalties and turning the puck over more often than he connects on a hit attempt------Cant blame a minor leaguer to make mistakes
vanek for not living up to the contract --------good point but doesnt seem like hes the casue of a lot of mistakes granted he isnt the cause of big goals either
stafford for being lazy and uninspired------ This is looking like the pick but id prefer to not have him on the roster to make the selection.
Sometimes I bring things up just to see if anyone admits to it (thanks, Indy.) Usually no one does. - keptupl8
i am willing to admit it.. i never thought he would be a top 4 guy (at least i don't think i did).. but i thought he was going to be a very good bottom pairing guy.

I don't hate on individual Sabres. I hate on the people who put them there. They have no excuse not to do better.

We'll give you one of our bottom sixers (or even two!) a 2nd/3rd rounder, and even a middling prospect for Andrej Sekera and whatever else you want to get rid of.

In Vanek's defense, that's the Oilers' fault. Can't blame him for Lowe's legal but d-bag attempt
