I can't think of anything off hand that prohibits it. Didnt phoenix essentially do that with Turris? - shruew
I forgot about that one.
Turris was an RFA who didn't have arbitration rights. He ended up holding out for more money, and went unsigned. In short, he ended up working out a deal, and eventually was traded a couple of weeks after signing. I think he ended up demanding a trade while holding out, if my memory serves me correctly. In all, Turris didn't really have much control over his situation.
I guess what I'm wondering is if a sign & trade deal has happened in the NHL involving a UFA? I can't recall a situation where that has happened, |

Right, Like Bryz's rights to the flyers last year for Matt Clarkson (I think). Very little in return but it was something. From what I've heard is that teams 'talk' to the agents about players (or even to the players themselves) all the time, even though they are not supposed to, in order to gage a players interest in their team or as to what they are looking for in a contract. Whether that's true.... I don't know. Hamhuis did not sign where he went, Bryz did. The players still hold the cards.... the choice is ultimately theirs. - moylander
Hamhuis was dealt twice between the draft and free agency, if I'm not mistaken? |

I find your exclusion of #2 interesting. Not saying I don't see your point. But interesting none the less. - Hal9000y2k
Ha ha. It's not that he's a bad player. His playing style just doesn't fit the flyers overall team dynamics. He's not a huge hitter (i.e. physicality), he's not a great pp quarterback, and the flyers have enough dmen already that can't hit the net if it were right in front of them. Also he has 11 years remaining in his contract. Between Pronger and Bryz we don't need another lengthy contract.
I actually think Suter would pose some of the same problems as Keith on the flyers (although Suter is probably the better player of the two).... I think a guy like Weber is more of what the flyers lack now that Pronger is out. |

I am probably gonna be made fun of this, and I'll probably get the old:You are such a homer.....but I respectfully disagree,Keith is imo better than Suter, and up until now has more credentials on his resume to prove it...the year after the cup,i admit Keith had a bad year, but he caught so much unnecessary flack this year that it was annoying..he didn't have his Norris Trophy year again,so everyone wants to lynch him...but the guy played so many minutes that it was unrealistic to ask him to play at such a high level, fatigue sets in,whether you are 20 or 29 when you play that many minutes...when Oduya came over, and they reduced his minutes a bit,he was very very good,he was good in the playoffs too,and had a nice outing at the worlds...what's the news on Pronger?if the season starts it October,do they expect him to play on opening night? |

If that deal happened,I think Bolland and Hamhuis would be slapping each other in the dressing room and on the ice during practice and games...It would be like when Peter fights the Chicken on Family Guy |

Don't forget Murray Craven.
I think the Canucks should bring back Shane O'Brien. I didn't get enough "O'Brien goes to the Roxy" stories when he was here last. |

Good luck. He would be a nice addition. My gut tells me Nashville tries to trade his rights out of conference if they realize he's not going to resign with them. It's the least they can do to try to get something back in return and not have to play him 5-6 times a year. - moylander
Nashville has a shot at re-signing him. I get the strong sense he's going to weigh all the options and do what's best, which means to me that he's going to UFA on 7/1.

Pronger news is not good. Flyers are not planning on him coming back from what I've heard. I can't get the image of Keith (and in his defense, most of the hawks) just standing around when his captain and other teammates are getting cheap shotted after the whistle. He rarely gets involved in any tough guy shoving..... And that's a must for the flyers.
As for him being better than Suter a case could be made..... Keith certainly has credentials. I don't watch enough Nashville to really know Suter but I do watch plenty of hawks games and Keith can look really bad at times, too often IMO the last couple seasons. |

Thanks. Probably best for him if he does. He'll definitely get the money..... It's just where will he land. |
