You can only add so much speed by lifting and power skating. Most of it comes down to the genes youre born with.

You can also learn how to use it - when, to what purpose, etc.

Smyth has some positive attributes but I don't want any part of him.

Last summer he got the Kings too accomodate his request to be traded "back home" because his family wanted to live in Edmonton. Lombardi accomodated the request and then he had to deal with receiving an injured player in return.

Now Smyth is quibbling over $500K or so? Screw him!

You know to be able to afford him.. Being I am a good guy, I am willing to trade Stalberg to Oilers for Nugent Hopkins... to help them make some cap room.

This cracks me up. Mike Smith on Dustin Brown...

"When Brown gets away with something like that after the whistle — knee on knee, that's a dangerous play. If Raffi Torres gets 25 games for his hit during the play, this guy should be done forever."

While I don't think the Brown play was necessarily 'clean', I love how the 'Yotes players forget they have a borderline felon on their team.

Maybe Smith just needs to teach his teammates how to "sell it" better.

Like Torts would say, "I think what Mike Smith should do, is just shut up."

Meh the hit really wasn't that bad. He got a wide stance, went to light him up the dude tried to move and dragged his own leg behind him putting himself in a bad spot. Should have just taken the hit straight up instead of trying to avoid it.

Weird stats. But some Blackhawks mentioned.

Players and coaches will never be honest or principled on these issues. They just don't have it in them.

My guy does it...it's I saw nothing; looked like a hockey play. There guy does it...its a capital offense worthy of life time banishment. You can't take anything they say with any credibility.

The offside whistle was almost instantneous with Brown's hit. Sorry Smithy this was no after the whistle mayhem. BTW how about your malicious golf swing wack on Brown earlier in the series. Also it was not knee on knee....funny how a guy 100 ft away has lazer vision when its his guy who gets wacked.

The yotes lost their focus after that play and it cost them the game and series 15 seconds later.

Maybe Phx should change their style of allowing 40 shots a game and expecting miracle saves and finishes to bail them out.

Kinda humorous listening to them trash the reffing after the game.

Adios and good riddence!!!

Its not that Im happy Rozsival got hurt but did you guys see his SUPER flop a few minutes before that when I believe Penner gave him a one handed tap behind the leg ?? Give me a break plus all of Smith's flopping and wtf was with Smith slashing Richards after the OT winner. Then Sniffles Smith says Browns hit was knee on knee ? Brown got a whole lot of Rozsiflops chest and shoulder too.

Has this guy entered the sphere of Burrows-douche-bag-ability? Really? He's b!tching about Brown when he acted like he got BOTH barrels point blank from Shaw?

Did you hear Yandle say that the refs take advantage of the Yotes because they don't have an owner and nobody is there to stick up for them?

I think the Brown thing probably should've been given a penalty. Seeing it live, I was shocked it wasn't. Looking at it now, I'm 50/50. But the hypocrisy coming out of Glendale is an absolute joke.

The officiating has been inconsistent this post season. Some days you're the dog, and others you're the hydrant. In the Hawks series PHX was the dog, but the flip happened here.

Really don't agree with this.
- Fat_Tony_Amonte

What don't you agree with ? That their handshake line behavior was not completely unprofessional ?? If they thought Browns hit was that dirty then why didn't Ekman-Larsson drop the gloves and start swinging ?

Im more happy that Phoenix and Torres wont have their name on the cup. Its too bad that Smith is such a baby he's good enough to steal a round and If Phoenix would have made it to the cup they could have won.

For me it doesn't matter anyway. I've been on board with the original-six for years. This year isn't any different so guess it's the BlueShirts or bust.

I don't know about that. Before this year Smith has never won more than 15 games in a season, then he breaks out and wins 38 and has an excellent playoffs. We've seen plenty of goalies come out of no where and stand on their heads for a year, then fade back into oblivion as reality sets in. I'm not saying its a guarantee that Smith falters next season, but based on his previous record it's possible.

Yea, I get that , I dont care who wins out of the remaining 3 teams , good stories can be had for NYR, NJD and LAK , i never want to see Vancouver win. I never want to see Torre's team win. SO Im OK for 2012, wish the HAwks could have made a run.

Replay makes it look more like a knee to the nuts. Then Rosi is on the ice and before "wincing" in pain he looks up to look for refs, sees one coming his way and puts his down in "agony". Yotes flop as much as the Heat.

Hes absolutely a product of the phoenix system, if corey crawford were the goalie there he would look great too.

BTW hows bryzgalov doin in philly? He sure was in the elite goaltender talk this past offseason was he not?
