Of course, completely forgot the actual details of that deal. For those questioning Gillis'/our scout's judgement, he's shown interest in some solid players who have really improved recently(Tinordi, Backes, etc.). Just imagine if the Blues didn't match that offer sheet.
- Nucker101

If Tinordi had fallen to the Canucks, that would have meant the Canucks would've had to give up the pick they used to select Jensen. Who would you rather have? Tinordi or Jensen?

I think I'd give Jensen the slight edge, honestly.

Gillis has done alright with his picks, considering how late he's selected most years, and the Canucks have gotten some good late-round steals, like McNally, Cannata, Corrado, etc.

I'd love it if he could get another 1st rounder in a Lou/Schneider deal and package the two to move up, see what he can do with an earlier pick.

I personally don't see Edler as a 1 or a 2 but I think you give him a good partner he would be great.

Agreed. And IMO Suter or Weber will not be as effective when they're finally split up unless they go to a team that already has a number one type d-man that they can play with.
- Nucker101

Agree %100.

They'll still be very solid defenseman, but most likely whoever they get paired with on their new teams will not be as good their previous partner, which will affect their play.

Like I said before, with the potential he's shown on many occasions (which he should reach if he sorts out his back issues), there aren't many defenseman I would take over him.

Having a solid partner who can keep up with him, and compliment his game by taking some defensive and physical responsibility so he doesn't get as worn down, he will jump into the upper echelon of D in the nhl.

One thing I do not like about Gillis is him putting in pretend players like Bitz Alberts maybe even Rome instead of real NHL players. I hope he has learned his lesson and will get true D and true 2 nd and 4 th liners.

Bitz was a project, but obviously didn't work out. Real 4th liners are starting to cost a bit too much $$ in todays NHL. Would be nice if the farm could supply a few in the next couple years.

He's small, but other than that Alex Friesen sounds like he's got the makings of a perfect 4th line centre. They'd have to surround him with some size, though.

Lapierre is the only 4 th liner at this time I like

Kassian has to train hard this year to replace Raymond position (unlikely), or replace Hansen (never) or play 4 th line (50/50 chance) or play the farm (50/50)
If he progresses leaps and bounds then he will save us the trouble of finding a 2 nd line RW .I really am pulling for the kid .I want him to do good but AV needs to give him more than 4 min a game.

I think thats his biggest hurdle. He needs the ice time so he can grow.

Wonder what they would want for Raymond, or if he's just going to be packaged with which ever goalie leaves.

Are the Flames going to try to re-sign Jokinen?

I would not mind if he signed for 2 years here for 6 mil or less. 2.5 per would be great.

- VANTEL

I hope they pass on Jokinen, sure he had a good year, and out of the UFA's he may be a good value (and if he signs for around 3). But change is needed. He doesn't make the team better, or help the main players.

Flames need help winning face-offs so I hope they go for still/gaustad instead. Jokinen was horrible at face-offs, with Iggy taking a large portion of them. So taking our best shooter out of position. Cervenka is going to grow into a joking type player, so let him.

He seems like such an oddball too. Good numbers but I didn't see to much of him only when we played.

last year I was hoping bourque for raymond. would have been a good trade.

Calgary has too many LW now though, so unless he can play RW it won't happen.

Tanguay, Cammelleri, Baertschi are top two. Glencross could play 3rd. But like I said, someone will need to move to the RW, or Cammy into the C

Would rather Flames chase after Samuelsson or Jagr, to play with Baert. And Jagr played with Cervenka in Czech.

Almost correct, except that the Rangers will be selecting 29th and Columbus will be selecting 30th (via Los Angeles).

HE would fit well on a team like NYI or Jets. A second line Vet that can score. Possibly even in Colorado.

I will be a happy fella if the leafs can draft Galchenyuk. I've got an odd feeling however the pick won't be theirs come the draft...

I thought Raymond did play RW .Higgins Booth his linemates are LW .
I think if Calgary made an offer he would re-sign there. He plays his best hockey there.

If Raymond played in Cgy Whipper would need to cheer for a Canuck

Jagr will only play in the East. Samuelsson likes Fla but would go to the most money offer.

hrmm, I thought he was LW (he seemed to always be listed as that). I'll take your word on it, since I'm too busy complaining about AV during canuck games. Moss rights for Raymond would almost fit for what both teams need in players.

Ya Jagr is a long shot, and Samuelsson maybe costly (but could be worth it). Raymond just needs a new team, he doesn't fit on the canucks.

However

Tanguay/Cervenka/Iggy
Cammelleri/Backland/Raymond
Baert/(Gaustad/Stoll)/GlenX
Bouma/Jones/Jackman
wouldn't be terrible.

Everyone loves Raymond

He is a great guy and team mate.He needs a change .I think Raymond would love to play in his home province .You would be getting a hell of a player.Kesler has not helped any players career along other than his own. Cgy would love him. Raymond belongs in CGY as much as any Sutter.

Trade Iggy for Edm #1

Seriously would you be offended if Iggy for Nail. We know it would never happen but I would do it in a heartbeat.

You know how young men line their walls with pictures of nude girls .Kesler lines his bedroom walls with picks of his SI photo shoot.

I'm just wondering who's going to get knocked out first.

Hall streaking up the left side boards. Or Nail cutting across the middle.

I would like them to focus on getting a centre for Iggy or at least some one NHL proven (Johansen, Schenn, along those lines). Before we enter another decade of flames hockey without a #1 centre.

If they did trade for Nail (like you said, won't happen). Then they should send off Kipper as well.

But I'm not in the blow it up camp of things

So you think he's on the big club next season? Sure looked great in pre-season. Or will they put him on the Heat for a year? Is he even AHL eligible in 12/13?
