Thanks Ian. For draft retards like myself these mocks help a lot. Yesterday's links were great as well.
Saying that, I think Gillis trades his late 1st round pick so the question is moot for Canuck fans. |

I would be ecstatic if the sabres managed to get collberg at 21. Trouba would be a nice add at 12 but his growth would be extremely slow considering the sabres depth at D unless they traded away three of sekera/leopold/weber/pysyk/brennan |

Wilson and Pearson both seemed out of place in the first round to me, based on everything else I've read anyway. I love Dumba for the Isles, but I can't imagine we pass on the talent of Galchenyuk if he's still on the board at 4. - eichiefs9
The islanders will be loaded at center without Gakchenyuk. Snow already has Strome and Nelson waiting in the wings. Dumba would be gold for the Islanders. |

Not sure if you have seen this link (found it on another board), but it tracks updated mock-drafts from various sources (some with analysis, some with just lists)... not all are great, but most have some decent rankings / mock scenarios.

If nothing else, it is an easy 1-stop shop to start looking. |

So, who do Canucks fans want/hope for at 26? - IanEsplen
Colton Sissons, but then I'm biased, I've watched him play and known him for several years (through his mother who I work with) |

What about this kid? Real fireplug with offensive talent from what I'm reading. Whom ever we pick will be three to four years away from making the team, if we pick in the first round at all. |

Not a bad list Ian, it's pretty close to how I see the draft going.
Slight changes in my eyes would be Anaheim taking Forsberg and Collberg would go a lot sooner (I like him for Ottawa, alfie would be imeasurable to his development). Other than that especially those Leafs getting Galchenyuk

"In need of wingers, the Pens snag the overage scorer in Pearson. The OHL’s third leading scorer could likely step right in to the Pens lineup."
are you saying he could play for us this upcoming year.

Do you think Burke keeps the pick? If he trades it away to get Nash (for example) do leaf fans revolt? |

i dont think burke will deal our 1st, not for nash at least. unfortunately he isn't worth a top 5 pick and whatever else we would have to add to pry him away from CBJ. i see burke taking the best center available (at least I hope so) even if grigo/gally are picked and we have to move down 2 spots and grab faksa while adding a 2nd +. draft is a month away, so only a month of this madness till we find out what really happens. |

We are always taking the BPA or take the guy that "slides" in the draft. Have you seen how bad we are at drafting? Cody Hogdson 2008 now traded. Michael Grabner 2006 now traded
Mason Raymond 2005 plays for us. Corey Schneider, Edler, hansen play for us. Ryan Kesler 2003. Kevin Bieska 2001
6 players over 10 drafts that now play for us. When we drafted 76 players during that time. We take "project" players. Except most of the time they don't work out. We end up trading them. |

Ideally, assuming of course he falls and we take him, Galchenyuk could be the future #2 and Strome could slide over to wing. I like Dumba's game, makes me think Subban. I just want to take the best player available. If Murray is gone and Gally or Grigorenko are available, great news for the Isles. |

I don't think the leafs could go wrong with any of the picks at 5, personally I want Galchenyuk. But if not I would take Grigz, Dumba, Rielly or Forsberg. All have very good potential. As for the Canucks, Colton Sissons is the type of guy the Canucks need, IMO. |

The Draft is always going to be a crapshoot because of how young the draft age is. It's very hard to project what a player will be like when he's in his prime at 18 compared to say 20-21 when they've finished growing and maturing. There generally aren't any "Can't Miss" players in any draft unless you're picking 1st/2nd/3rd overall and even then unless we're talking about a Crosby/Tavares/Hall/Toews/Stamkos etc., you're lucky if you get a player that can contribute regularily. |

Brad Ference
Bryan Allen
Nathan Smith
R.J. Umberger

2-Columbus Blue Jackets- Ryan Murray, D Everett (WHL) 6' 0" 185
After striking out on Russians in past years, The Blue Jackets take the safest player out of all stud defenceman. Murray solidifies the Jackets D for years to come. - IanEsplen
I have trouble believing the Jackets (if they keep the pick) will take Murray in the #2 spot. As good as he is, with Jack Johnson and James Wisniewski on the back-end already, I see them picking a forward. Jackets are very thin at forward and if and when they deal Nash, who knows what their offense will look like. I anticipate them taking Grigs, Gally or even Forsberg.

There's no way Burke trades the pick for Nash......in a perfect (Leaf) world, Burke deals the pick in a package to Columbus for Nash AND the #2......but that won't happen.
Burke will attempt to deal up with the pick.....the only way he deals the pick and moves down is if both Grigs and Gally are gone before they get to #5. We still need a centreman. If that happens, I can see him dealing down and maybe swapping picks with Colorado in a deal that possibly lands us Stastny. |

I think Colorado traded their 1st to Washington for Varlamov. |
