2003 was arguably the deepest draft in modern hockey. It produced 20 All-stars plus every 1st rounder played at least a game in the NHL. Regardless, Weber will cost a MAMMOTH amount. - NickTheKid87
The Flyers should be looking elsewhere for a legit defenseman. Weber would be great but I honestly dont think hes leaving Nashville especially if Suter does. The money will be almost impossible to turn down imo. |

I wouldn't pay Hartnell more than $5m a year either. Are we entitled to intelligent ones, or do we have to draw more shapes in the sand in the corner with paint?
Forget Suter.
What would it take to get Weber? He was a second round draft pick in a not deep draft, so probably not much. Since Harts is worth $6m to everyone else here, maybe Nashville will think so too. Throw in Coburn.
The article in the Phila Inquirer about Parise is dead on. We are not getting Suter or Weber. Parise would be perfect. Harts is a non-issue right now. Debate all we want - Carle will sign.
And that is that (BTW - sarcasm laced throughout my comments). - Daman
Hartnell will always be an issue. Carle will always be an issue. Why? Because those who cannot simply root for "The crest on the front, not the name on the back," will redundantly voice their hate of a player instead of simply criticizing their play. There is a difference between the two, but like much of American discourse, definitions are blurred and then redefined.
Parise would be a stellar addition. I joked about the misspelling of Praise/Parise, of course.
As for the first paragraph of yours above I'm lost.

I was testing the intelligence on the board. I flat out tell you I am being sarcastic and you still debate the point.

First, I expect the Flyers to really make a strong push to sign Justin Schultz if he becomes available. If not certainly trading a forward is a possibility, but let's just say Kimmo is ready to go for the start of the season.
Grossmann-Coburn
Kimmo-Carle
Meszaros-Guftsy
Lilija - Bourdon - Manning
I can see riding this depth to the trade deadline and assuming Pronger is on LTIR, Homer will have plenty of room to add a veteran d-man at the draft. |

Bill wrote last week that he could see Weber being shopped only if Suter resigns. Which begs the question, why would Nashville take Suter over Weber? So I agree I don't think Weber is going anywhere. |

Jamie McBain has agreed to a two-year extension with the Carolina Hurricanes.
McBain's contract will reportedly come with a $1.8 million annual cap hit. McBain had eight goals and 27 points in 76 games in his second full NHL season. He was scheduled to become a restricted free agent this summer.

I know people discussed getting him at the TDL last season. |

The Pronger deal was Lupul, Sbisa, 2009 1st & 2010 1st + future considerations for Prongs & Ryan Dingle. I feel Weber would have the Flyers giving up Schenn, JVR, 2 or 3 1sts and then some. - NickTheKid87

Hartnell was also going to be a UFA when he signed. He got the dollar amount that the market would bear at the time. - Jsaquella
And he chose to come here. |

All we're saying is to use logic and be open. You make comparisons that make little sense or have conditions on them that don't apply. You harp on Hartnell being the second highest paid forward, then when confronted with the fact that the other forwards are RFAs and haven't gotten their big paydays, you immediately pull out two of the biggest stars in the league as examples of RFAs that got paid.
You make comments, and then get in a huff when somebody explains why your logic is not right. - Jsaquella
Who the H E Double Hockey Sticks are you to tell me MY OPINION is not right? I voice an opinion. You can agree and disagree as you choose, but you are a NOBODY in the hockey world to tell me my opinion has no merit. Your "logic" is nothing more then a guessing game, just like anyone elses. And I didnt say the Flyers Will. I always said IMO and If it were me... It's MY OPINION. |

Wait.. is this serious logic or sarcasm?
Just because a guy wasnt a 1st rd pick doesnt mean it wont take much to get him. He could have gone undrafted, or picked last, played the same way and it would still take the same amount to land him.
It would probably take JvR, Meszy or Coburn, maybe even Schenn, and 1-3 1sts. |

And completed my bromance at the time (as my brother & brother-in-law can attest, as I wanted Hartnell signed as an UFA & HomLer outdid my hopes by acquiring his - Flyskippy[and Timonen's] rights). Hence my Hartnell jersey soon afterward.

Per Bill on twitter, Grossmann's agent says that the defensemen's knee is fine and will not require surgery. |
