either Ovechkin needs to become a team player and a real captain, or you should trade him to a city where hockey isn't important and he can play out his prime and then spend his last 4-5 years on a team with a lesser role and try and win a cup.
if ovechkin wants to win in DC, then he needs a coach that will show him how to be a team player. As much as Therrein was criticized in Pittsburgh and as much as the players had issues with him, he made guys like Malkin and Oprik better players that ultimately led to a Cup. The capitals need a coach like that.
Even though im a penguins fan, i still want to see Ovie win a cup one day. special players like him should win a cup, but he needs to work for it. - SuperHenderson13
So wait, Ovi isn't working? You're right, he's just here to collect a pay check. No heart, no intensity, no physicality. Not the best player on the team almost every game. Get rid of the bum.

Oh, but when people used to say "Crosby isn't even the best on the team, Malkin is", the Pens fans would get all uptight and say how stupid of a sentence that is. I am a huge Backstrom fan, but lets not say things which are just flat out stupid. What Ovi did his first 5 years in the league, and really 6, was just insane, and if he could do it before, there is no reason why he can't do it again. - Blackstrom2
Whats the difference, the Penguins have both of them and that is all that matters. Rank them wherever you want.
i hope the sabres extend Boyes before July 1st and then start working on a contract extension for Roy on july 1st.. we need these guys they bing in veteran leadership and leave everything on the ice.

The Sabres are going to trade with the Islanders for that 4th overall pick. That is assuming the guy they want is still there - Rally_Shots

This bothers me as well -- Ovechkin hasn't been the same player for the past two seasons for whatever reason(s), and may never be again, but he was fantastic for a long stretch, the best player in the league IMO (and in the opinion of his fellow players, who voted him MVP for 3 consecutive seasons). Some people conveniently forget this.

I think Stamkos took a lot of that momentum from him, from an outsider looking at the current great goal scorers

Crosby too, he tied with Stamkos for the Rocket Richard in 2009-2010 and before his concussion in 2010-2011 was running away with the goal scoring lead as well. Ovechkin's advantage he always had in regards to the Crosby vs Ovechkin comparison was the goal scoring department and Crosby started to eclipse him in that as well.

Ovechkin has averaged 75 points over the last 2 years which are below average numbers for him, but if you look at it, he was in a slump that lasted about a year, after Mid season he was on fire this year, and he did have a good playoffs, if he was playing a team like Philly or Pitt, he would have been on the ice for 20+ min, but he played Boston and NYR in which they had to play chess games the entire series. Im predicting 40g and 55a next year for ovi

Because before the knee injury he was a top 5 prospect. He's also listed as 6-2 most places.

agreed, I was not dissing Crosby
I view Alex and Stamkos more as goal scorers and Crosby as an all around player

Roy isn't himself without Hecht. We need teams to key on the Hecht line to free up Roy. I'd bring back Hecht for 1 year deal at 1.5 million. We'd be so dangerous up the middle!!

Could you imagine if we got Hecht and Goose re-signed so we had Roy, Hecht, Boyes and Goose as our 4 centers... DeadLY...
