(Lines not to be taken seriously, just hypothetical)

Edler - Hamhuis
Bieksa - Garrison
Schutz - Tanev

Ballard, Alberts and Connauton would still be around barring a trade. If Ballard can't be dealt I highly doubt we are signing any dmen in free agency with Edler needing an extension after next year.

Bieksa and Hamhuis need each other... I mean Bieksa needs Hamhuis.

I like it talent-wise, but still think we lack in grit and shot blocking with that group. And you have most of your d-men playing on the wrong side. Edler, Hamhuis and Garrison would all be the left with Bieksa, Schultz, Tanev on the right.

So maybe:
Hamhuis - Bieksa
Edler - Schultz
Garrison - Tanev

Garrison plays on the PP and PK so he would still get 20 mins a night as a top 4 d-man.

Agreed. We've seen Bieksa play with Edler and Ballard.

Agree. I would rather keep Lu and trade Schneids than trade Lu for Lecavalier. Vince is done.

If you would rather have kesler than lecavalier then your not too bright. i know vinny's cap hit is high but no way he plays more than 5 years. when he retires his cap hit will be off the books. plus give him some decent wingers to play with ie booth and nash, it would help you guys out alot. trust me kesler is not your saviour. you guys are in dire need of canadian talent to take you guys to the top. not a bunch of divers, americans and euros. im out suckas.

To be fair, he never really clicked with a partner ever since Hoff left and still put up good numbers. Schultz can play a similar game like Ehrhoff and plays the right side as well, his shot is not as good as Hoff's but he's a similar player. Matt Carle or Dennis Wideman could also be a fit on the right side with Edler.

I am happy to see fans have stopped saying Rome Alberts or Ballard.

Hypothetical: We sign Schultz and Garrison. We sign a top six winger. Would you trade Lu for Lecavalier to center that second line and push for the cup (his contract length be damned)?
- AlexF

I like Vinny as a player, he's still got a lotta game! I watched him play a few times last year, would love to have him here. That said, I'd much rather go with a second line of Parise Schroeder Kesler. How many guys have scored 31+ goals in their last five full seasons, one of those being a 40+ goal season? Parise is a player, he show's up when it matters. That's what we need!

Really depends on the dynamics of the situation, if Gillis couldn't manage to sign parise at say $7.5 million per season for five years then maybe Lecavalier could work with Booth and Kesler? My first choice would be option "A" though!

I like it too, but would switch those pairings up a bit. Not sure how to fit Tanev in there? He's so cool and calm with the puck and makes smart decisions with it, but he's got an absolute muffin of a shot. Schultz is very much the same type of player, tall skinny kid who by all accounts makes smart decisions with the puck but has much more of an offensive upside.

Hamhuis - Bieksa
Edler - Garrison
Sauve - Schultz

I'd replace Sauve with a Bryan Allen or Cory Sarich to add some size, toughness, experience and shot-blocking. Hopefully we can sign one of: Garrison/Carle/Stuart/Wideman

With Allen:

Hamhuis - Bieksa
Edler - Garrison
Allen - Schultz

With Sarich:

Hamhuis - Bieksa
Edler - Schultz
Garrison - Sarich

With Alberts as a solid 7th d-man. You and I might be in the same page with Tanev, he needs to get stronger and meaner because he isn't a great point producer either.

If Gillis was able to somehow sign Justin Schultz, I'd offer him (Tanev) in a trade with say Tampa Bay or Toronto. Tampa needs defense badly. Plus it might get us an extra usable pick from them?

To Toronto; Luongo and Tanev (Ontario kid)
To Vancouver; Schenn, Lombardi and a 2nd?

No offence, Kesler did have a bad year by his standards, but if you can't see how he is a more valuable player than Lacavalier, at this point, then you haven't watched enough Canucks games to make a proper judgement on that claim.

If the Canucks have to take Lombardi back with Schenn, they shouldn't have to add Tanev.
