What would you think about this scenario? Luongo to tampa for lecavalier. Then go ahead and trade kesler, your 1st rounder and a 3rd asset to CBJ for nash.
Top 6 would be
sedins and burrows
nash lecavalier booth
thoughts? - howamidointhis
It would not be in Vancouvers best interest to drop one long contract to take on another. |

I have an inside source saying Gillis was going after Aaron Romes bother this year .
Wennin Rome had a great camp last year ,and is this drafts secret weapon. - VANTEL
This deserves a hockey card. Someone with photoshop skills get this done! |

I agree with this completely. - bloatedmosquito
I think we will have a return of 3 D this year and others will be new additions.
I think Rome Alberts Salo Ballard will be gone.Salo may sign in a 7 th spot here if it is a cap friendly hit. |

Ian Esplen: A Look at Mocks - IanEsplen
I know Colton very well, if we got him, he's NHL ready, and he's a converted center in Kesler's mold (he's a natural RW). A perfect fit on the 3rd line playing either center or on the wing. I think it's probable he drops to us. |

The last BC born player Vancouver drafted in the first round turned out ok ,so Sissions may be the right choice.
Some guy named Cam Neely was the last. i heard he was an ok player. - IanEsplen
I wouldn't go that far. But with that I have Scisson's going in the 25-35 range so it's very possible that Gillis picks him, and I wouldn't be opposed to that at all. The Kid was named captain as a 17 year old, if that doesn't show his character I don't know what will, add that to his talent and I think he'll be a winner.
I agree with your assessment of Severson. He'll be another good defensemen from here, but I do think his a likely seconder rounder and a little bit of a project for whomever drafts him. |

Severson had a bad year, but only because Kelowna's D was young and not very good. He's definitely got talent, but I think he'll need to play in the Dub until he graduates before he's ready to make the jump. |

Not only that, but we would have 31+ million tied up with six forward and no goalie, unless Lack is expected to be the starter next year... |

Luongo in not coming back.
Of course Gillis is going to say anything to get maximum value. If Luongo comes back, we lose Schneider and Gillis is smart enough to see the potential that he has. |

Let's be honest, less than a handful of players each year actually crack the NHL roster on their draft year. It's usually the top 10 picks. I don't remember the last time a late 1st rounder made the jump. |

Any other GM I would say it is a no brainer. Gillis can be a stubborn jack ass and feels once he has signed someone he follows it through. Look at AV. Most of us had our cars in idle ready to drive him to the airport, but it seems he is back for more than this year. |

Agree. I would rather keep Lu and trade Schneids than trade Lu for Lecavalier. Vince is done. |

I'd be really interested to see the offers coming to Gillis for both Schneider and Luongo. I'm a big Schneider fan but if there's a package that improves us all over then I'd be ok with letting him go. It'd have to be pretty freakin good though. |

Good call! Don't know much about this guy but the scouting report is promising:
2011-12: Wilson led the Plymouth Whalers in penalty minutes during the regular season and was the team's second-leading scorer in the OHL playoffs. He had 141 penalty minutes in just 49 games, finishing plus-17 with 9 goals and 18 assists. After finishing first in the West in the regular season, the Whalers advanced to the second round. In 13 playoff games Wilson scored 7 goals with 6 assists and was plus-ten with 39 penalty minutes. Wilson was ranked 15th amongst North American skaters in Central Scouting's final rankings prior to the 2012 NHL Draft.
Will he still be around when the Canucks pick?

I'd like to see the Canucks take a D-man with their first round pick. As the rangers are showing, you can never have enough talented, cheap, young D-man.
Add a good first round pick into the mix with Tanev, Gragnani, and Connauton, and the Canucks would have a bright future on the back end. |

Question is, do those three guys help us win the stanley cup next year? Just like to see this organization go for it while our core is not on the back side of thier careers.
Hey, I'm a season ticket holder so I would be happy with years and years of regular season success. Good drafting ensures that. But damn I would like to see a cup in my lifetime. This team is positioned to do that right now. |
