mistake, you know what i mean lol

I know, but they improved in a ton of areas from last to this, including points, and a lot of their losses were of the 1-goal, OT variety.

Schultz is getting a lot of attention and a lot of hype. We've seen this before with Bozak, Hanson, Irwin and Gustavsson. It's obvious that Schultz has talent but whether he signs a contract with the Leafs, people need to keep their expectations in check.

Acquiring Schultz however does reinforce the fact that they should have never acquired Liles, or at worst, traded him at the deadline. Signing Schultz is going to depend heavily on how much ice time he gets especially on the PP.

I think that Burke really covets him, from drafting him to allegedly enquiring about him when we got Gardiner instead. I think that Burke will use that to appeal to the kid's ego, and try to get him with the "nobody wants you like I want you" approach (doesn't only work with women!!!).

The real difference between Schultz and the guys that you listed is that he was a fairly high draft pick who ended playing college as part of natural development, rather than somebody who develops late/seems better due to playing against kids his own age.

that is a dramatic overpayment for Nash... Phaneuf is one of the better offensive d-men in the league, the same way Nash is one of the better offensive players in the league

Leaf and Oil fans have a lot of similar wants.

Nash is a sure fire Olympian.

Dion is not.

1) Pursue Schultz hard. We don't have to give anything up so it's worth investing the time to try and get him.

2) Address the goaltending. Either trade for somebody (Luongo, Lindback, etc), or on July 1st (Harding).

3) Try and address the number 1 centre position. If we can get one at the draft, awesome. If not, then kick some tires on trades.

4) July 1st: Bring in a bit of grit, character and leadership. I'd love to bring in Prust, and wouldn't object to Gaustad at a reasonable price. Suter would be wonderful, but highly unrealistic. Parise also great, and maybe more realistic.

5) Make a decision on the bad contracts. Either trade (Komisarek, Armstrong), bury (Lombardi if he has a bad camp) or buy out (Connolly).

That's not exactly true, that's a pretty subjective statement, and there are few players you can call a "sure fire olympian"

I think that's partly a matter of the Olympic team just needing more forwards, relative to defenders (competition is pretty high for defender positions), as well as the TSN hype machine working in Nash's favour. I'm a fan of Rick Nash, but people tend to over value him, relative to other players.

Nash is pretty awesome.

I think he's underatted now after this constant banter about him and his contract.

I don't think the leafs defense is in much better shape than the Oilers, but public perception says differently.

He is, but his worth should not be significantly higher than Phaneuf's, if at all higher.

Same can be said in Edmonton. I like our prospects coming. Adding an established vet needs to be top priority though.

I'll admit he has his strengths. But he also can be quite a liability defensively. And is a horrible captain.

He doesnt step up.

Leaf fans have started turning on him. He's not a leader.

I don't need to go into detail.
