Thats unfortunate, the arena in edmonton is old, its kind of in a sketchy area, we know the team sucks, yet sell out every home game. What are ticket prices like for an islanders game?
- ruttager17

They probably cost somewhere between what a Coyotes and a Panthers game would

Anyone want to guess how shocked Dee will be when she realises the Islanders still have PA's rights and he can play for them this year.

Ur Not Me: We talked about Kane and what we would give up for 2 days.. feel free to read previous posts. I would imagine you are right that they have to make a move... When all else has failed trade is only option.

We'll if Kane does come he better get here during the summer, he wouldn't want to miss out on binge drinking at Paddy Magees or Neptunes

Edit: Don't get me wrong I'd love to have him on our team!

I think most of us agreed with that sentiment... Here is the contract sign it.. if not buh bye.
- niteislander

Quite a few people on here were convinced PA was going to sign. Someone went as far as saying they saw him in a bar and he told them he'd be resigning

By the grey beard of zeus thats cheap. Would almost be cheaper for me to fly to a game in phoenix and go to a game than it is for me to drive 5 hours north to edmonton and get a lower bowl ticket which are in about the 200$ range.
Would be so worth it to fly to NY and watch the Isle play the Pens and catch a sweet ass brawl, i frigging hate crosby so wouldnt be going to see cindy play

I'm joking, it's not that cheap. You can get decent seats for fourty bucks minus one of their stupid promotion ideas. The problem is those seats are the first to go because nobody wants to spend more than that to see this team. Tavares is a pleasure to watch as is Hamonic but watching them get the shat beat out of them all over the ice is no joy to watch.

I talked about seeing him in a Bar many times with Zenon Konopka when someone said they hated each other... They basically were business partners and ate at Gulio Cesare' at the bar all the time. My wife and I love that place and I would see the 2 of them all the time. They were very good friends... far from hated each other..

Snow should have shipped him b/c he could have gotten at second or 3rd round pick for him.. just dumb. He also should have shipped Jurcina and Eaton who are UFA too.

many many many other teams do that for Islander games. Especially when we play Habs or Leafs. The Hotel is about 20 yards from arena. They fly or drive down and go to the game.

i think a select few agreed...most were blasting me for bringing up the idea of trading him because who would replace him (to finish off another bottom 5 season)???

The location is not a problem. The arena and the team is the reason for the poor attendance.
- niteislander

location is a major problem!!....no public transportation

That was actually me, I know they're friends and partners but Konopka is a bad drunk as anyone on the team will tell you. I'm guessing thats why they didn't resign him? It started between PA and Konopka(who actually started a fight with a friend of mine first)then Haley and Konopka who actually were tied up and hitting each other. This was after many shots of Jameson of course but after calling PA a fag and every other name related to his sexuality they didn't seem that close that night? I actually talked to Konopka about whether he was going to resign or get resigned and he didn't seem to confident but didn't come right out and say. Like he knew he wasn't if you know what I mean? Nate Lawson was also there but stayed out of it. It was a pretty funny night to say the least

yeah... I mean the Islanders need to milk every assett they have to the fullest. If you are not going to sign and extension and We are not anywhere near playoff contention... Snow has to trade them and get something of value. At the time I was saying if we traded PA, Jurcina, Eaton, and Nabby.. We might be able to get enought chips to move into the first round for a later pick. (Ship 2 thirds and 2 4ths for another second.. then use 2 seconds for a late round first..etc.)

I don't think it's so much location but public transportation is pretty much nonexistent for the area. As we saw in the eighties it's the team. If they put a consistent, winning team on the ice you wouldn't be able to get a ticket to an Islander game. The arena is in horrible condition but I as many could give a rats ass, if they tried to ice a competitive team we'd all pay to see them and pay big money to do it!
- Cptmjl

agreed...shea stadium was also considered a dump, didnt seem to keep people away in 2006...

assuming the team were doing well, i find it borderline impossible that someone would ACTUALLY say, i dont want to go to the arena because its a dump...

It was a late one, the best part was after everyone got thrown out(which was my friends and them, we were the only people there! lol)and my friends and I were pulling out at three in the morning Haley and Lawson stopped us in our car and wanted to hop in and go to another bar. I looked at them and said; "no, You guys are nothing but trouble!". True story!

Guessing it was the whole cloak and dagger way the developer is remaining unnamed? I don't know if that's the norm or not but it is interesting?

Not the developer, re-read it. Just some random dude who wanted to remain unnamed . Read it quick at work when I actually had something else going on
