It matters cause we'd be in the same spot roughly.
Not .500. Which was the main point u made.

Anyway, as u said, i cant change your mind.
And Im not arguing dubs isnt the better option GOING FORWARD.
I just think theres many reasons why we were so bad, and nik was only one of em.

- hugefemale dog77

That argument makes no sense. Khabibulin still finished the season with a record of 12 wins and 20 losses. You have to take the good with the bad... You just can't pick out the wins.

I agree that there were many reasons why we weren't good... I just think Khabibulin is the most obvious one. You can also add in the fact that vets were playing like sh1t, and our D wasn't good... BUT, our vets were sh1t, and our D was bad when Dubnyk played as well... Dubnyk = .500 team... Khabibulin = Sh1t team.

A brief callup means very little. Guys play differently in those callups. Smyth is asking for 3mil which isn't the end of the world, it's the term. You won't find too many people that know what they are talking about that wouldn't take Smyth, but it has to make sense long-term.

People seem to forget that we only have Hall as the only other LW and he could very well be injured to start the year. Having Smyth will help.

K.

Anyway, he doesnt want 1 year. And i wouldnt give him 3@more than 1 year.
U said the same in a conversation with me not 2 days ago.

No ones saying teemu couldnt use some more development.
Or is the answer. Roster space and upcoming contracts dont give us alot if options up front.
But Call up or not. Hes a physical presence. We could use that.
Size and sandpaper is a big an issue as almost anything else currently.

This is as poor as an excuse as the gf who just came back from a jog, but won't lay there and get (frank)ed because she has a head ache.

Edit: I'd give him 2 years.

Of course it does. Take away niks ridiculous play in those months and add in dubs' more consistent play (?) and minus ten pts roughly.

Do the same later, and add back roughly the same.
Still not .500. Exact science or not, it was your argument.

Is there anyway we can sign Smyth to a contract where he only plays the first 30 games of the season?

Harti should have to earn a roster spot like everybody else. He shouldn't be just "penciled in".

I meant the team was .500 while playing for goalie X.

When...
X = Dubnyk, our team was 20-20-3 last season (played as a .500 team)... Combine the last two seasons, and the team was 32-33-11 (close to a .500 team)

X = Khabibulin, our team was 12-20-7 last season, and a 22-52-11, over the last two seasons combined.

I'm not taking away from what Khabibulin did at the start of last season... It was fantastic, but you have to factor in what he did for the rest of the season. The bottom line is that when Khabibulin plays in net, our record is far from .500... When Dubnyk plays in net, our team was a .500 team last season, and very close to a .500 the season before.

I'm talking about the win% when a specific goalie is in net for us...

I'd be fine with this team going out and signing a guy like Paille and a dman.

Let the rest of the kids battle it out for roster spots

Not really.

The dmen available this summer are all solid, but unspectacular. The roster is currently filled with them. If I'm Tambo, I have marginal interest in only a few, and no interest in the rest.

You do what you can. If all it makes sense to do is add a guy like Moen or Paille, then thats all you do FA wise.
