oh no, not rick nash rumors.

in order to take on his contract, the jackets would have to include the second pick in the draft and we all know there's no way they do that

Yea, ew. Let's not discuss one of the best and most talented snipers in the game.

Not that the Flyers will get him but I am curious to see how good he could be on another team other than Columbus.

This team probably does not need a major tweak. Their focus for now needs to be on some contracts they want to extend to their own free agents as well as the draft then they worry about free agency.

Heard the lil rumor that nash was on list homer is going to take a look at if cap does go up to 69 mill. Obviously if that were to happen, we wouldnt be too worried about losing a power forward in JVR. My fantasy dream (never happen in amillion years" scenario would be to get nash and weber ...hahahah We would have to trade half the team just to pay those two.

One thing to keep in mind when listening to "rumors" is that Homer has always said he will look at everyone and kick the tires on any deal because it's his job to make the team better. So "take a look at" means nothing.

Also, "heard a rumor" should include a link to the legitimate news source (see your code of conduct).

Hey Bo, saw a post yesterday that made think of an old post about "sayings" for lack of a better word. Is it beckon call or beck and call? I thought it was the former when I saw the latter.

I heard a rumor that the Flyers were going to sign a free agent or two after drafting 2 to 4 players.

We'll see how bad I do in NHL 12. I'm figuring a three goal deficit by the end of the first period.

If the Flyers trade for Nash the day after the season starts, there will be no trouble fitting his cap hit in.

I'm at your beck and call.
____________from phrases.org.uk
If the term 'beck and call' had originated prior to the 14th century we we would presumably now say 'beckon and call'. It didn't though and the first recorded use of 'beck and call' in print is in Aemilia Lanyer's set of poems Salve Deus Rex Judaeorum, 1611:

The Muses doe attend vpon your Throne,
With all the Artists at your becke and call;

That is straightforward enough. What brings the phrase to the attention of etymologists is the confusion that some people have between it and 'beckon call'. This supposed phrase is a simple mishearing of 'beck and call'. The mistake comes about because no one uses 'beck' any longer, whereas 'beckon' is commonplace.

down 3-2 with less than a two minutes to go. Guy gets a powerplay, for whatever reason decides to pull the goalie, and I tie the game up--win in a shootout.

EDIT: All three goals of mine were SH.

Thanks jsaq.

And the point is just that if you give the source of the rumor you give other posters some idea of how much credence to give it.

I am just as entertained by your updates as I am about the rumor talk. It sounds as if your team lacks discipline

I'm pretty sure a 7 million dollar winger is not on our needs list right now. The team needs to get a 1-2 defensemen first and foremost. Not sure why we all cant agree on this. Another forward isn't the answer. If we're gonna spend 7mil on a forward it had better be on a Stamkos or a (and I hate to say it) Malkin. Nash is a great player, but his cap hit is just too heavy.

That was a textbook tackle. The Eagles could learn from that play.
