Former 2nd round pick of the Ducks, very good prospect, played NCAA hockey and is likely ready to step right into a regular NHL role next season. The only knock I have seen on him is that he needs to fill out a bit.

So does Cooter.

In that case....

Get it done Homer!!!!

Any possiblility the Flyers look at Luke Schenn this summer?
- stveshdy

I like Schenn, but I do think if the Flyers really had that much interest in him, they would have traded for him instead of Grossmann or Kubina at the TDL.

Assuming, that they start the year with Carle, Coburn, Meszaros and Grossmann as the top four(Timonen might not be healthy to start season) they will need a puck mover type more than Schenn, who is more a stay at home guy

I'd say no chance with Grossman on board. And thank goodness.

I think it was much cheaper to land Grossmann and Kubina than Schenn near the TDL (which could of scared the Flyers off). He is a young defenseman and probably will develop into a solid defenseman. I don't know what the asking price would be but I wouldn't mind getting young on the blueline and allowing him to play on the third pairing to keep gaining experience. Then the Flyers would be able to move him higher once they lose the likes of Timonen.

Well, after Timonen, they are fairly young. Grossmann, Carle and Coburn are all 27, and Meszaros is 26. Lilja's probably the 7th guy this year, and then there's Gus, MAB and possibly Brandon Manning in the mix.

It is going to be interesting because regardless when Kimmo returns, they really need to limit his minutes during the season to try and save him for the playoffs. Realistically, I would hope they drop his ice time to no more then 17:00 minutes a game, which with the four mentioned above could be accomplished. However, I do think Homer does add another pretty young potential stud d-man in the offseason.

Great non call there. Ponikarovsky's skates are the only thing that touched Lundqvist, but Henrik went backwards like he was hit by a bus.

There's going to be interest in Suter. I have no doubt that the Flyers will kick the tires on him. If that doesn't happen, they could try to sign Schultz, or maybe Wideman or Oduya.

I also wouldn't rule out a trade for an under the radar guy with a big splash, like the Pronger trade

True. But a young physical type like Schenn. The others are pretty much what they are. Schenn's potential is still ongoing. Gus, MAB, and Manning are no better than #6's imo.

The other young guys are probably not better than 6th guys, true. But if the asking price for Schenn is JvR, now that I have Grossmann, I wouldn't do it.

When was the last time the Flyers had a d-man that could really join the rush and consistently make a difference? The best I can come up with is an over the hill Paul Coffey. Don't get me wrong, the Flyers have had offensive skilled d-men like Kimmo, Pronger, and Desjardins. Very rarily, they really had a great skater that could create offense with a combination of speed, shooting, and passing.

Why does the Rangers 6th d-man play 4 minutes a game?

Great formula, play one 7 game series, after another, and play 5 dmen.

Vastly overrated, in my opinion.

Kim Johnsson was good at that, not at the level of a Coffey, of course.

The trouble is, those guys tend to be disasters in their own end.

I'd have a lot more interest in Jake Gardiner, considering how the Flyers defense is presently construed.
