There's probably a dozen guys with similar potential, pedigrees and skill sets to Shattenkirk and Bogosian that I would be in favor of acquiring.

Some I like more than others, and I'd prefer to keep Schenn, but I wouldn't grill Holmger for trading him for one.

- bradleyc4

The thing I like about Shattenkirk is that he has now produced with two different teams, with two different offensively skilled teams running two different systems. He has a really nice hard point shot (BONUS ALERT:RIGHT HANDED SHOT) and can run a PP (or has the skills to be capable of doing it). On top of it all I dont think he would cost as much as a Bogo...

absolutely (frank)ing annoying, I'm sure Hammarby can rant about this issue more efficiently than myself.
- JoeRussomanno

not more efficiently, no. i can rant until the cows come home, which will be never since i don't own any (frank)ing cows. although i just ate one for lunch. pretty good.

all i can say is there is some kind of magic hovering over the rangers. yeah, they have some "injuries", but one would think that the law of averages would dictate more severe injuries due to the amount of shot blocking they do.

i'm (frank)ing sick of fonzi and his gddamn 2-1 game 7 victories.

Shattenkirk isnt going anywhere. Not only is he their second best defenseman but hes young and Hitch loves the kid.

Not that you were suggesting it.

they have had some injuries, not as suspect as the Flyers at times. the King has held the fort and has kept them in more games then most goalies. Thats the biggest difference, that i can see.
- phi1671

as good as he is, he doesn't face the constant barrage of stupidity in front of him because all five guys play in front. i've never seen a team collapse and prevent more from getting to the net than this rangers team. ever.

if the sens had a little more touch around the net and the caps didn't blow it, captain shoulder pads isn't playing in the ecf right now. he should be out.

What do scoring chances have to do with being weak on the puck and losing board battles?

Was speaking at the NHL-level. I'm sure a guy like Powe would score a bunch in Europe.
- OrangeBlack27

A player's AHL level role is basically akin to the role he'd play in Europe.

Thoresen was a fine scorer (almost a point-per-game) who played on the 1st/2nd line in the AHL. Powe would be a 3rd line player in Europe.

I think he did a fantastic job in his role when he was with the Flyers, and cheered for him.. but i would have a real tough time bringin him back... we have a ton to be excited about already within the org.

For sure. But I do think he could help some NHL club if he got another shot in the league.

Trading Jack Johnson has allowed Slava Voynov to flourish on the blue line. Kings GM Dean Lombardi knew Voynov could be a key cog on the defense corps. He also felt Voynov could be very effective if paired with Willie Mitchell, which is something Lombardi credits for the Kings’ drive to the postseason.

For the Jack Johnson peeps.

I seen Schenn and Simmonds and I see players that, down the line in during a playoff hunt, will be huge difference makers. I look at how a guy like Dustin Brown right now for LA is controlling the ice when he's out there through hard work and physical play, and I see that in these guys.

These guys are going to be difference makers. We just need to be patient with them.

No seriously. Dude played on the first unit pp. If he whacks at a rebound then thats a chance. But when he glides up and down like a disney on ice star, and my most predominant memory of him from the series is meaningless yapping with Carter, then I worry. Rinaldo brought more grit in 1 period than Simmer did the entire series.

My worry is that he will get a big deal from Flyers in November and then fade when the going is tough. Last time I saw a guy playing for us completely disappear like that in playoffs after putting up 20+ goals was against Buffalo. His name was Jeff Carter. People said he was a rookie etc, but there was more to it than that.

oh i agree. No matter how good they might be or how bad they might be, i will never root for them.
The collapse is awesome...I would shoot the puck in the wrong place a few times....

Is that true? Because it would explain a lot and also get me off his back a bit.
