Seems like he's a longshot to return this season.

If I were Gagne, I wouldn't allow someone else to choose my destiny for me. Hockey players play to win a championship. This could be Gagne's last chance.

Doctors have to clear him. And the coach has to decide to play him.

I wonder why Columbus (who gave up a ton for his services,) got rid of him after 39 games.
- PLindbergh31

There's probably a number of reasons why. But I doubt one of them is that he's a gutless puke.

there's no denying his greatest attribute - his scoring ability - diminishes greatly when it matters most. i was very interested to see how he would fare in LA - no real pressure - around players, coaches, and managers that he knows well - and it's no different. these playoffs are not over, and he's still playing, but i'd make that trade again every single day of the week.
- hammarby31

Knowing what they got with the pick, absolutely. Knowing that Carter sulked his way out of Columbus, only strengthens the case to be made. I gave Carter a lot of slack until then.

So would I as far as that trade goes. But I would also take Carter back on my team in a heartbeat. Same goes for Richards.

Obviously the gutless puke line is tongue and cheek, the playoff numbers don't lie though.

Carter might not be scoring on the ice but off the ice he leads the Kings.

Still a very good player, and a key player for the Kings this year. And the playoffs aren't over.

So... if we had played two 7 game series and won an emotional victory in the last one, would we have showed up for the first game of a new series?

Also, I am suspicious of Matt Carle taking a contract "below market value"..why would he do that I wonder. Does anyone else smell 6 years and a NMC?

Why ask this question? It doesn't matter and is a moot point...no one can answer that anyway...

I should have said: 2 days later. And I asked rhetorically, because we would not have.

Ohh...ok. I see now...

By the way, I wasn't trying to be rude or caustic there. When I reread my post, it came off as such

i was pleased even before couturier was selected. i just felt it was a good thing to move him (and richards, but less so). that return only makes it better, as you've said. the flyers could easily have "lost" the deal. i really soured on him after the columbus situation.
