Wow a lot of anger in here with Ranger fans and Islanders fan. I remember a day when it actually meant something. When the Islander fans had something to argue about. Unfortuantely we have nothing they are light years ahead of us and will be for a while. So why argue? Just sit back and enjoy some good old fashion Ranger Devils games

The location couldn't be any more perfect in regards to transportation. All they really need to decide on if it's "suitable" for hockey.
- BringBackBalky

Anything is possible today. IMO. They can make it "suitable" if they want to. All it takes is money and desire. Build it and they will come.

I was having a discussion on an Islander Blog comment section about Islander and Rangers draft picks. I listed all the Ranger first round draft picks under Sather who were not in the NHL... The fact that a Dead person's name was in that list is obviously a sore subject for you. Calling me a d-face was a bit over the top... fyi.
- niteislander

yeah, one of the best prospects we ever had died during a game, it's kind of a sore subject for me, call me crazy.

The Rangers and Islanders have not been a rivalry forever. WE have been irrelevant in hockey for some long we dont even win the worse management award. It is like we dont exist in the NHL anymore. TEams see they are playing the Islanders, they are like what who are they? No one knows us and I will say that at least I am watching some exciting hockey with the Rangers, Devils and everyone else who is playing. I live for the day to see the Islanders actually play with heart and hard like these teams

i just want to point out a double standard (not necessarily you jethro)- everyone gives the rangers respect for guys like ryan mcdonagh (drafted in 07) or michael del zotto (drafted in 08) and at the same time gives (and has been giving for years) the islanders flack for drafting calvin de haan on 2009....why are islander fans so unwilling to be patient when it comes to developing their players but when players that took 4-5 years to develop, these teams do it right???
- LetsGoIsles

I know what you're saying. I don't think the Isles have drafted poorly, I think de Haan will be a nice player too. But I do think that Sather has done just as admirable a job of drafting as Snow since the lockout ended, if not more admirable. Its really hard not to respect the way the Rangers turned things around following the lockout.

Thinking of how much later he has picked and never have picked in the top five since Snow has been GM its hard to say he hasn't done a better job in that time frame.

When you listen to Out of town Broadcasts or Hockey shows on TSN, the NHL channel or satellite TV & Radio.

What you hear are comments like. "Yea the Isles continue to rebuild, but shouldnt we have seen some progress by now"?

Or, "The Isles seem to have taken a step backwards this season".

Or my favorite. The one I'd been hearing for most of last season. "Isles are a young up and coming team with good vet leadership. Guys like Rolston, Pandolfo and Reasoner are good Veteran additions".

As i said, besides Hamonic. Do I really have to throw players the Rangers drafted the last six years at you(and out of the top ten mind you)to make my point? You know its a valid argument, you're just being an Islanders fan which is fine.
- Cptmjl

would u trade our 2008 draft class for theirs?
We get stepan and MDZ... Doyle, Gaulton, Dale Weise, Kundratek,
They get Matt MARTIN, Hamonic, Josh Bailey, Poulin, Donovan, Ullstrom, Ness, Spurgeon, Dibo, Toews, and Petrov (yes I included him b/c the islanders still hold his rights.. not sure why that would make u angry) and Trevino if he ever gets his life straightened out..

(amazing how bringing up Cherepanov is hopped all over.. but having a rapist in the same sentence on the other side was not noticed in the least. Maybe I was just listing picks after all... maybe.. )

Yikes now that is scary. I mean Rolston would have been amazing if we gave him more playing time. I mean look what he did for Boston in the playoffs

You're picking one year out of four and trying to make a point. I said REPEATEDLY the last five years or so. I love Hamonic, the kids a beast. Some would argue that to the death and take the Rangers draft without even thinking. MDZ and Hamonic are such different players. You are flaunting ALOT of players who MAY be decent NHL'ers some day but are not yet. You mentioning Petrove did not make me angry but was just as relevant as you bringing up Cherapanov(which I know how you meant it BTW). Using Petorv as a "positive" Snow pick is funny, whats so positive about it? Are you guys going to continue to talk about him and Kabanov like we have the second coming of the red army line coming to the Coliseum. I know you see my point and I'm almost betting you agree with it, it just sucks to agree with it as an Islanders fan. It really is a stupid discussion at this point.

I was not even saying that I was 100% right or wrong on that draft. I was actually just taking a point of yours and starting a conversation... I realize Petrov and Kabanov are non factors in the NHL right now... they are chips though for the Isles. They may turn into something... or they may end up like Joensuu playing elsewhere forever.. If you told me u would rather the Rangers draft I don't think I would have called u an idiot ... I would have disagreed... only b/c I think in the long run while all those picks might now work out.. some will... and I LOVE Hamonic and Martin.. and am very very Hopeful on Poulin and Donovan.. rest are long shots.

my getting angry at me mentioning Petrov was someone else who threw their 2 cents into our original discussion.

eh since 2007 rangers have had 14 picks to the islanders 24 picks (through first 100 picks).

Rangers players to have played for the rangers (might have missed 1 or 2) since 07 draft:

1) MDZ
2) Derek Stepan
3) Kris Kreider

Islanders players to have for the isles since 07:

1) Mark Katic
2) Josh Bailey
3) Aaron Ness
4) Travis Hamonic
5) Matt Donovan
6) John Tavares
7) Mikko Koskinen
8) Anders Nilsson
9) Casey Cizikas
10) Nino Neiderreiter

Furthermore These are the draft selections the rangers have had since 2007; Drafted: 17, 48, 20, 51, 75, 90, 19, 47, 80, 10, 40, 100, 15, 72 -- Average pick is 48.9

These are the draft selections the islanders have had since 2007; Drafted: 62, 76, 9, 36, 40, 53, 66, 72, 73, 96, 1, 12, 31, 62, 92, 5, 30, 65, 82, 5, 34, 50, 63, 95 -- Average Pick is 50.4

Pretty simple, actually. Isles fans are tired of waiting. HOW long has it been since they were last in the conference finals that the Rangers and Devils will begin tonight? How long since they won a playoff round? And now, how long since they were IN the playoffs? Obviously, we all know the answers to these rhetorical questions.

I think you get my drift that it's been WAAAAY too long and there IS no patience left in Islander land.

i definitely hear your point and i agree with it but if we ALL agree that milbury was the REASON why the team was set back so far, for so many years IE the actual team and the prospect pool, than its only fair to expect the replenishing of the team and the prospect pool to take a pretty considerable about of time....i cant blame guys liek CDH for not being super human and just jumping the ranks and being a regular NHLer. not everyone is travis hamonic.

, I realized that was taken out of context. I want nothing more than all these kids to work out it just doesn't work that way most of the time. I love both Hamonic/Martin as well. Poulin looks good and I hope he's our next legitimate starter some day.

Did we ever figure out what was up with Kabanov? I hear it's not true that he's going to the KHL.
