I don't think the Islanders do that richard, though it would be nice.
I do see the Ducks as the more likely team. With Selanne and Koivu nearing the end of their careers, they are looking very thin in the front. Share a pretty big market in southern california, and may have a couple defenseman available. They do have a couple good center prospects, Emerson Etem and Peter Holland.
They need NHL level center depth, so maybe a 1st and gags for the ducks pick, Etem and Luca Sbisa? - shvmr
Ducks have absolutely no need to trade either player. They need a defencemen. |

I think there is a flawed assumption if you think the only option is to trade the #1 pick overall for another top 5 pick.
Every team has a potential offer involving picks, prospects and existing players.
The teams with the most prospect depth are Florida (loaded with great young Dmen and a world class goalie prospect), Anahiem (great young prospects who are big and play mean),Ottawa (solid prospects with lots of size and a goalie that can be moved), St. Louis (superb NHL ready talent).
A team like Nashville could use a mega trade to try and manage around pending stresses caused by the Suter, Weber, Radulov and Tits kerfuffles.
Chicago needs changes as do Buffalo, Washington and San Jose.
I don't mean to suggest that anyone of the above is the best partner to do a deal for the #1 pick. Just, if Edmonton ever did decide to offer up the #1 pick get ready for a wide range of diverse offers. |

First off It's obvious that Quick and Schnieder are American? Really thats news to me as I watch the NHL but I don't check Birth cirtificates. My time is much to precious than to diddle around doing that and I am semi retired so I have a-lot of free time.
Dubey in the KHL is obviously a comment meant to get a reaction.
Here is your reaction: The Edmonton Oilers seem to think Dubey is their guy so did the Brain Trust of the Canadian Hockey federation to invite the guy for the Third straight worlds to get expierence and exposure. This year Dubey has played 2 games. As ar as Lou goes if and that a big IF he gets an Invite to the Oly Team It will be behind Ward, Smith, Price and Fleury Unless he proves something on te ice like Winning. Yes he has a Gold medal from the Last Olympics but he has declined in every big game since. Hell even the Canucks want to trade the guy how good can he actually be.
There is your reaction By the way the Oilers don't want his contract so pitch your ware someplace else boy yo it's a lost cause here. - longbottom
Don't really have to waste your precious time searching for birth certificates. If you actually watched the NHL as you stated and actually payed attention, they probably mention the nationality of Quick and Schneider at least once a game. Is your semi-retirement due to some sort of learning disorder??? |

If you had to chose today, knowing what you know now
Would you rather have ?
Hall/Nugent-Hopkins
or
Seguin/Landeskog - TheGame316
Tough, I am happy with Hall/Nugent-Hopkins but wouldn't complain about having Seguin/Landeskog. But if I could I think I would go with Nugent-Hopkins/Landeskog |

If Murray is still available at 3rd, Montreal will draft him. They just love defensemen. If he's gone, and Yakupov probably will be as well, they will take Galchenyuk or Forsberg. I really don't think they will pick Grigorenko. |

If Lowe said that Murray is the best than Murray is going first overall. I haven't read the article so I don't know what was said, but a guy would be stupid to think that he can name someone else as the #1 prospect and then be able to trade down. |

The Journal pisses me off, actually a lot of the Edmonton media is pissing me off. They wonder why ST wants to keep everything tight lipped, well here's yet another example to why the GM/president don't speak to all the media. |

Yeah who needs goalies that have won stanley cups. They're useless losers. Instead lets take the perennial cougher Chokerto Luongo....... No thanks.
Price
Fleury
Ward
I want cup winners on my Olympic team and even though Fleury crap the bed this year, he is still there because he is a proven winner. We won in Vancouver in spite of Luongo, not because of him.
Judging goalies based on this years playoffs alone is stupid. If Smith plays to this level right up until 2014, than he can be on the radar. - Sheppy99
That is awful.
Fleury was 3rd string in Vancouver and has gotten worse.
Ward won a Stanley Cup 10 years ago... maybe Patrick Roy is available too.
If Smith continues to play how he's been playing, he will be on the team.
You are right, team Canada didn't win because of Luongo, but they didn't lose because of him either. He did the job, and you can't fault him for that. |

how do you know? he was labelled "generational talent"
FYI the goaltending a defense looked solid at the end of the year, If they happen to add Yak and a ufa dman or 2 they will improve... - Killbot460
Um, right. Why don't you go ahead and post anywhere that calls Yakupov a "generational talent"? Crosby, Malkin are generational talents. Probably Stamkos too. There is a clear cut btw Yak and the rest, but that does not make him a generational talent.
So go ahead and post some credible sources then.. |

Stamkos was not immediately thought of as a 'generational talent.' |

Too much media in Edmonton now and it's like everyone wants to be the first to have a story. That whole Cult of Hockey on the Journal is bad news to me. People see it's from the Edmonton Journal so they just suspect that those guys know what they are talking about. Wanye didn't help his cause on ON with Smyth either. |

Luongo did at least stabilize Canada in 2010. Brodeur looked like an idiot in that US-Canada round robin game.
The US is going to be interesting. If things continue the way they are now, it's going to be Quick hands down. However, the last time (and depending on who you ask, the only time) Ryan Miller had an elite season was 2010, where he had motivation for the Olympics. |

Came out crying about the Oilers jerking Smyth around. Then we find out the Oilers were talking and offered him a two year deal.

If Columbus cannot draft the best player (by a wide margin) out of fear he wont play for them they should look at how pathetic their franchise is, pack up their bags, and move to Quebec. - ky678468
