If the Oil takes Murray first, and CBJ doesn't feel comfortable drafting another Russian with a good pick, does that mean Nail is going to Montreal? - FinAddict
If Columbus cannot draft the best player (by a wide margin) out of fear he wont play for them they should look at how pathetic their franchise is, pack up their bags, and move to Quebec. |

I wouldn''t give the Flames the hair off my back for any of their prospects.
Beside, Oil already have prospect Bunz, who was the best goalie in the WHL last season. - Maxbone
LOL your right about Bunz, But your wrong to think that the Flames have no decent Prospects. In this series alone they have two of the top players in Sven Bartschi and Brossoit who just won the MVP for the Ed Chynouth(spelling) cup. |

You guys need a goalie pretty bad. Now is the perfect chance to get a good one who's locked up for the length of all your young stars careers. |

Been doing a bit more research on Strome. If we took him and Murray I think I'd be happy. Would like to hose the Islanders a bit more but it's reasonable |

They Feel right now they have their guy in Dubnyk who is over in Finland playing for team Canada. Again Why isn't Lou over there? |

The Oilers want a cup. Drafting 1st overall for 10 years helps but when you draft ONLY offense then you aint gonna go no where. Oilers need to trade MPS, Hall and or Gagner to bring in some much needed help on the back end. |

Again with the no. Luongo comes with too much baggage. Besides, between Dubnyk, Roy and Bunz, we have a starter in there somewhere. |

LOL.
Okay, I'll bite: How does trading Hall help? I've heard people suggest trading Paajarvi, because he has yet to be a star player, and Gagner...because there's a perception out there he isn't good. But Hall? Why would we want to do that? |

IF the oilers and isles would agree on that deal (isles 1st and strome for oilers 1st. and thats a big if for both sides) Then the oilers should draft yak then wait to see if murray makes it to #4 then trade yak for strome and isles 1st. Otherwise we might get shafted and come out with strome and grigs. might as well just keep yak tho

No slight on Dubnyk, who has looked very good, but I'm sure if they could have gotten Luongo, he would be starting the majority of the games. |

I get what you're saying, but I don't think that's how it would work.
If the Islanders make a deal for 1st overall, part of the reason they'd do it is because they'd get to announce who they are drafting. It's about hype. Promoting the game on Long Island. I know this might make no sense, but the Islanders would want Yakupov to be their boy from the start. If the Oil draft Yaks, they'll draft Yaks. |

Yeah he's looked great against Kazakstan and Denmark.
Cam Ward is the man over there, Dubnyk is just the backup... just like he would be on most teams in the NHL. |

You could get a top tier d-man back for him, a 1st round pick and probably a bottom 6 depth player (insert Clutterbuck?). Everything you need. I don't follow the Oilers that closely but I am aware that Hall has already been injured a couple times. That stuff adds up. You take Yakupov for Halls replacement. Instant playoff team if the goalie aspect of it turns out.
EDIT
I'm not trying to be a homer. Just seeing how Oiler fans/bloggers think of Hall leaving for the better of the team. |

The reason alot of bigger names who went over there after getting knocked out is because it's being run by the brain Trust of the 2014 olympic team and they want to showcase themselves like Getzlaff and Perry, Tavares Eberle .......etc. To say that it's not important to some then I suggest that if Lou wasn't invited or said no means a bit more than some suggest. |

Hall is the heart of the team. He's the Messier-type future leader who's gonna kick players in the ass to get them going. Every championship team needs a vocal leader in the room. Eberle and Nuge are perhaps better offensive talents, but Hall is the leadership guy. You don't trade a guy like that. |

I am in no way Saying Dubnyk is a starting goaltender for most teams but he is getting his shot next season in Edmonton and going over to the worlds is supposed to be more of a learning exp for him. We will see how this helps him next season. |

Fair enough. How would you feel about MPS heading to Toronto? Do you think Gagner is worth trading and if so what do you think he could bring back right now? |

I would agree but it does say something when they go with Ward as the go to guy in a tourney that is important in setting the seeds for the Olympics. If he said no then it will hurt him later on. |
