Don't use plus minus when the combined goal differentials of the 2 teams is 63 apart. And I would definitively take brian campbell on the devils right now over mcdonagh. That doesn't mean eventually mcdonagh might become better than campbell but currently he isn't. Campbell had 5 points in 7 games this playoffs. Mcdonagh has 1 in 14 games. Just get over it and stop acting like a homer. Currently mcdonagh isn't as good as campbell. - BDizzlez
Ouch, stop using facts against them! You're breaking their monopoly over the truth
ugh why did the rangers have to win? they are such a good team, the devils won't be able to handle it, their attack is just unprecedented. richards and gaborik will be leading an offensive onslaught that will make brodeur look like a fool. and with a defense lead by mcdonough we will be lucky to score a couple of goals in this likely short series, because as we all know, the king won't be giving up any softies. - shvingter88
After absolutely steamrolling two juggernauts in Ottawa and Washington, two teams most had picked to meet in the ECFs, and the three best defensemen in the conference all finally in their true All-Star form, I think a forfeit is in order.
The only way the series will even be close is if, as was the case with Ottawa, there is obvious league favouritism towards the Devils in terms of officiating. Everyone knows that New Jersey and Ottawa have larger fan bases and are bigger television markets than New York City, but with all the beach balls flying past Brodeur, lazy floating Kovalchuk chilling at centre ice, and Bryce F'ing Salvador only outproducing the Rangers Norris nominee by a slender 6-1 margin, I doubt anything Bettman could do would make any difference either way.

So what your saying is that we are ....DOOOOOOOMED!!!
Two weeks of this is going to be very annoying. - BarryB1124
Well I live in New York and most if not every Ranger fan (I would honestly say about 95% of them) I know (mostly friends and even the one I'm married to) thinks that this series will be over quick in favor of the Rangers. They all think that the Rangers worst two match-ups in the world were Washington and Ottawa and if they got by them that they match up great against the Devils (or LA/Phoenix). It was like they won the cup over Washington yesterday. I talked to a few of them more today and some are even calling for a sweep and that Marty doesn't even belong in the league anymore and that the Devils would be lucky to even keep it close like Ottawa and Washington did. They really believe that the best thing in the world is facing the, terrible, slow, bad goaltending, horribly coached, traping style, no offense Devils. All I can say to them is what the famous Bart Scott once said......Can't Wait!!!!

It's comical. You would think Girardi, McDonagh and Staal were the only really good d-men in the league and Lundqvist is the only upper-echelon goalie.
Even taking the Devils out of it, anyone who knows anything about hockey would know that LA or Phoenix are tough matchups. Especially LA. Here's their D:
Doughty-probably playing best of any D-man in playoffs
Scuderi-cup ring, playoff experience in shutdown role, plays best in big games
Mitchell-shutdown experience
Voynov-moblity and two-way upside
Greene-defensive minded-cruncher
And even Phoenix has Ekman-Larsson and Yandle, two emerging stars on D.
Think anyone knows who these guys are? We haven't even discussed the goaltending of the two teams yet. Personally, I think if the Rangers advance and play LA, LA is an extremely difficult matchup for them. They have size, they have speed, they have goaltending and they play a strong defensive style. And they do it much better than the Caps do...and that was a tough series for the Rangers as it was.
And we haven't even discussed the Devils yet...and I know full well any of these three teams is a difficult matchup from an NJ point of view. All 4 teams remaining have good talent and a commitment to defense. None is clearly more talented than the others. It's a year of parity and we have already seen that with the number of lower seeds either winning outright or playing in a very competitive fashion. Any of these teams can win. To think anything else is naive.

maybe check the rangers thread cause on here, not one ranger said anything about a sweep. In fact, the only person i've see talking sweep in the all knowing mayor of newark.

The playoffs are a grind. The top 3 minute eaters in the league right now are Nys top 3 defenders. With Bickle and Stralman being under utilized Njs top priority should be hemming those three in behind the net and grinding them up. Sooner or later mistakes will be made. Two great teams. I predict a closely contested series, with NJ prevailing in 6.

tomburton99, I agree most of the "hockeybuzz" community are die-hard hockey fans but outside of the die-hards most of the casual fans (again the ones who don't spend much time outside of watching a game here and there) think that this series will be a walk for the Rangers. Again, I'm not saying all fans but you have to admit if you ask your friends (i'm asuming you live in NY) who aren't on here they will probably think this is the best case match-up for the Rangers (a repeat of 1994 I keep hearing).

NOBODY, not 1 of the dozens of Ranger fans I talked to last night think that, this will be 6 or 7 for sure, maybe you hang out with a lot of pot smokers?

Sorry to disappoint you but I liver in jersey and have always been a die hard rangers fan. And to add to your point, there is no way on earth this series goes less than 6 games. Of course i want the rangers to win more than anything. I also that the devils didn't get this far by accident.
