If Carle is willing to sign a cap friendly deal you have to look at that IMO.

Just watching Jack Johnson in the USA game. Man he stinks. Thank God he is not a Flyer. He is a turnover machine. Great job by the Kings just to dump him

- Just5

Johnson doesn't stink. He's still a young player.

Nothing personal against Carle but in my mind he had a pretty pricy contract from the moment he got here and now the price has gone up on a number of our prized Dmen. Which is a shame to me seeing how Timonen, Coburn and Carle can't seem to put the puck into the net the same way most high priced Dmen can. Oddly Meszaros was the only Dman who was able to pot more then 5 goals this season without PP time. I'd rather research other avenues.

Not every defenseman has to be a goal scorer to be a good defenseman.

I never said they did but when you're getting paid 5 million plus, I want the most bang for my buck. Homer wants less for Carle then what he could get on the open market, while possibly over paying for Coburn. Why is this?

Who says he over paid for Coburn? If you want an elite all around defenseman who can do everything well. Be prepared to spend far more then 5M a year, for that player.

Do I want to ask why Carter is a douche? Have you ever met him?
- MJL

He asked Mimi for her phone number. Then she started getting calls from some guy she didn't know. She finally figured out it was a friend of Jeff's and called him on it. He stopped calling. Then one night she runs into Jeff and Richie at Union Trust and Carts asks for her number again. She explains to him that he had it and didn't take good care of it, so he wasn't getting it again. He just stood there looking dufus-y and lame.

That seemed pretty douche-y to me.

But generally I think of him as rather personalityless in general. Pretty, but not much there there. But then, I'm just an old broad so he really only needs to be one or the other for me to enjoy either looking or talking.

No he can't, that's why he's only going to get around 5. give or take. If he could do everything, you wouldn't touch him for 5M.

Which is why I'm okay with him walking. From my understanding Ryan Suter is the better version of Matt Carle and frankly Suter isn't on my radar either but if I had to choose between the 2, guess who I'm choosing.

It's about Carter being douche-y. Do you suppose when he asked for a woman's number that she expected he would give it to a friend to use? Mimi was a model. She's a stunning woman. She doesn't give her number to just anyone and doesn't expect to be handed off to some guy as though she's a Gatorade. Not a groupie, someone who had groupies.

I suppose it's high time we don't question whether or not we've met someone, unless we've met them ourselves.

So at what point does Bryz search a trade. I don't think he really understood the passion in Philly. Look they aren't out of the playoffs because of him, but next year I hope he is more consistent.

Not trying to hate on Richards and Carter, I don't like Carter, but I really don't want to see them skating with the cup before it's back in Philly.

I have some informative information to share on Carle as a player. I hope that some of his detractors are objective enough to read the information and consider it.
- MJL

I'm sure you do

I stated before, and I will restate my opinion of Carle. I like Carle. I think he has very valuable attributes as a puck moving d man. His first pass ability and general good decision making can not be underestimated. Like many, I would like him to be more physical. But hats not him and I'll deal with it. I think Carle, on a whole, really minimalizes mistakes in the d zone and the offensive blue line but when he does err, it's usually eye popping and an aggregious mistake/turnover.
I said when Coburn resigned that, if Carle wanted more, I would let him seek it elsewhere. General consensus is that he could get 5-5.5 in free agency. The reports that he is possibly willing to take less to is very encouraging and if true, I would be happy to have him back

Jeff Carter is happy to be reunited with Mike Richards and playing for the Los Angeles Kings. "It's pretty crazy," Carter said. "I never thought I'd end up here, especially this quick. Obviously I'm happy with how it turned out."

Sounds like typical young immature male activity. Every guy has done stuff like that. Maybe not to a Model. But then again all of us aren't good looking millionaire pro athletes. Not something that should be made a big deal of. And definitely not something that would sway my opinion on what kind of person Carter is. Just not that big of a deal.

Curious why you find that funny? Carle is supposed to the subject of the blog tommorrow. So the information will be apropros. I agree with most of what you say. Accept for the eye popping part. And he should get more then Coburn. We'll see what he is willing to sign for if he stays.

How about dangling the carrot to Langkow for a one year deal and a shot to win the cup centering our 4th line? If he doesnt figure into Phoenix's plans next year maybe offer him 1.5. He is declining but still has an excellent two way game with scoring pop. Can move him up and down the lineup if need be.

Like I said, Suter isn't on my radar either but I think the Flyers can afford to spend more with Timonen coming off the books. All I care about is having a number 1 Dman once Timonen exits the team.

When Eric Desjardins left the Flyers, we expected Joni Pitkanen to take over his role. Bad attitude or good attitude, it was premature for the Flyers to place such expectations and such responsibility on Pitkanen's shoulders. With this said, the Flyers waited a year before grabbing hold of another proven number 1 Dman after Desjardins departure. I'd rather not see this happen again.

I do like Carle, he's really grown on me but I would prefer even the smallest upgrade over both Carle and Timonen. As I've said all along, go for the big fish, go for Weber!
