Flyers loss was a team effort and no one player should take the fall.
Simmonds is a good player but not a great skater or puck handler. IMO he is a 2nd or 3rd line checker and guy who can play around the net for tap ins and rebounds. Seems like a lot of potential in this area and it is an important aspect of the game.
Coots is terrific and thankfully we got him out of the draft. I think Carter is underrated in ways - he has some strengths and some weaknesses.
Schenn looks like the real deal. I think that a good trade for the Flyers and Kings - the way trades should work. Richards is not an elite athlete or skater but I'm guessing most players find him a pain in the azz to match against.
Still would like an elite winger for our elite center. If Harts is the dirty player and Giroux the passer, who will shoot. Jagr did great for his age (and that is a compliment) but still think we need a sniper or creative scorer. Parise would be awesome but too expensive.
I think the team had a great year, especially when you lose an ultra-elite d-man like Pronger. Also, considering the youth on this team, there were great strides.
Congrats to the team, the GM, and the coach. And congrats to Bill on a job well done reporting (best Phila hockey writer by far).
Sure he did...look at the month of March and he is the only reason the Flyers were not blown out in most of the series against the Devils(game 5 excluded). Not sure what games you were watching!

Yeah, his play in March may have kept them in the playoffs, but we should shoot him anyway.

I remember Leighton and Boucher having good months - vejim
Do you remember them being player of the week two weeks in a row and 1st star of the month?
Do you remember when the team struggled after the Winter Classic when G was hurt? Do you remember people actually worrying about not making the playoffs?
we'll see what ultimately happens, but i was encouraged by what was said yesterday.
1. homer saying carle would already be signed (at potentially less than market value) if not for tagging space is great news, unless you are a complete buffoon.
2. based on what bryz said, i expect him to be much better next year.

Of course you don't. Bless your heart. - bodiva88

what do you think is market value? something like 5 yrs/$25 mil?
is Bryz serious? he needs to go the the KHL where he belongs - vejim
You need to go back into the cracks where you belong, cockroach.
"I will repeat what I have said many times: I have no time or patience for critics who crow with gleeful negativity at bad times and then disappear when things are going well."
instead of focusing on the philly fans and being so sensitive he needs to focus on stopping the puck, controling rebounds and handling the puck - vejim
Figures that you would misunderstand what he said, despite the fact that he flat out stated his issue wasn't with the fans. He was referring to the media covering the team, not the fans and pretty much flat out said so.

Of course, perhaps Bill put it best: "I will repeat what I have said many times: I have no time or patience for critics who crow with gleeful negativity at bad times and then disappear when things are going well."

....I'm an advocate of letting him walk. If we sign him for anything more than 4 on the cap, then I'm going to be upset.

I am sure the fans booing him most of the season wasnt a factor
