Good guy to play the point on the PP. A little long in the tooth, but he has a good shot. As long as your not looking for any physical play out of him. And only on a one year deal.
- MJL

main reason i'm interested

i think an upgrade there could be a big help. vet like him on a cheap one year deal might be the fit for now

what the hell kind of beat reporter makes comments like that?

Anyone know why he no longer covers high school sports? I wonder if he was forced out for harassing students.

Bryz needs a new attitude, not a new coach. RT @ravery77: Flyers need help with Bryz. What do u think of Flyers bringing in Mike Richter?

Cause he would know.

I tweeted this link to Carchidi. As probably many others have done.

Pure genius. I love it. The sad part is, it won't mean anything to Carchidi. I will be providing that author with some hits on his website. He deserves it.

I watch a lot of those and have so much trouble getting the characters straight. It's Unforgettable. She's really added a new dimension to the show. She's salty and smart and matter of fact but she gets the main character in a way I think none of her other friends/coworkers do. And Jane does it very well.

Saw that show once. I liked Poppy Montgomery in Without A Trace, but not this one.

I have been looking for a decent reason to get on Twitter. Sending writers better articles would be fun haha

Must be nice to know that the only way you'll get fired as a Philly sports writer is if you molest children.

I know this guy who got on the sex offender list by simply taking a leak in a children's playground. And it was 11PM!

Gotta be careful.

The Voracek negotiations seem likely to be Holmgren's biggest internal task. He played very well and exceeded expectations, yet had periods during the year where the offense wasn't coming for him. I expect his deal to be like the Simon Gagne contracts of old, where talks just dragged on until August.

Seeing Holmgren hopeful on Carle is a good sign, especially if he can get a "discount".

Bryzgalov's play obviously was up and down, but in his interview with Natalia Bragilevskaya gave us a window in that most of the beat writers slammed shut with their harsh treatment of Bryz. Perhaps if they had not worked their agenda, and took a guy who is funny and who was more than happy to gab with them and provide great quotes, they could have run with it all year long and had the insight that they're supposed to provide with their access.

The local media had the goose that laid the golden eggs, and killed him in order to make McNuggets. Then they turned around and female doged because there were no more ommlets. Since Bragilevskaya's interview went public, both Sam Carchidi and Randy Miller have written hit pieces, shredding Bryz for ripping the fans, when Bryzgalov made it clear he was not attacking the fans.

Sadly, the best Flyers coverage is not provided by the local newspapers, tv or radio, despite the access they get. It's provided by bloggers like Bill, who report on the sport out of love for it, and cover the team out of passion.

As for Richards and Carter and the possibility of them winning a Stanley Cup, good for them. I wish them well. I won't be celebrating it, but I hold no ill will for them.

I had to find this, as I saw it this morning at work and had wanted to respond. The media here, with respect to Bryz, are "like children sitting in the market and shouting to each other, 'We played the flute, but you would not dance! We sang a funeral song, but you would not mourn!'" - Matthew 11.

They want him to do what they want, on their terms. There's no respect, it's just about selling the news (thank you, Switchfoot).

This Sports town never ceases to amaze me. There is an opinion poll of Philly.com. where they ask for each player ,should they stay or go. There are 102 people who voted that Giroux should go. 70 people voted that Couturier should go. Hysterical. I can understand the scapegoats such as Bryz, Shelley, Carle. I would love to talk to those who voted go for Giroux and Couturier.

hardly a bryz apologist here...

so I'm half watching DNL and Stan hochman states that the fans will never forget the bryz/clarkson play and that was a major reason bryz would never do well here...the fans wouldn't let him forget it. really? is that what you're bringing Stan? between that and the misreporting about evan turner, maybe it's time for him to add extra doses of Metamucil to calm his old inflamed bowels.

and what is this obsession with making clode the captain? I'm now of the opinion it really is overrated and it certainly the flyers have mishandled these situations in the past. having a solid leadership group is much more important unless there is a guy like pronger "in the room".

I've seen some folks here would like to add a def piece here or there to have a nice mix, but I think the team needs a star...how we get that player, I'm not sure

To the people who say I was trying to bash Bryz, I have been one of the few who has supported him in print and radio. End of story.

Indeed. Chekmanic had some good numbers. Talk about headcase figuratively and literally. This team really is just a tinker away from being really really awesome. If they LTIR Pronger and the cap goes up, it leaves them little over 11 mill i think. You could definitely sign Vorachek and stud dman and a backup goalie with the idea of trading Bob. Maybe even a Dennis Wildman or a 2nd teir guy to replace Carle.

A Russian exchange student talked with Sovetsky instead of him and he flipped out over it. Small wonder he is miffed with Bryz this week.

If the series had been close, maybe.

By the time that happened they were already doomed.

They probably could have played another three periods without scoring.

it's like he was putting the play on par with the leighton goal or something- just ridiculous.

My personal opinion and I stated it during the game. I put that on Timonen, not Bryzgalov. Bryzgalov was just incredibly unlucky.

Jeff Carter is happy to be reunited with Mike Richards and playing for the Los Angeles Kings. "It's pretty crazy," Carter said. "I never thought I'd end up here, especially this quick. Obviously I'm happy with how it turned out, and I love the beach, so it's a perfect fit." Carter's brief stint with the Columbus Blue Jackets didn't appear to go as well. However, it worked out for the Kings, who will have Richards and Carter tied down to long-term contracts.

Makes it sound like the Kings actually had/have to do something for that to happen. More accurately, ...King, who acquired Richards and Carter already tied...
