I had no idea the Amish worship Giroux as their lord.
That is way cool.

People should, which they won't because it doesn't serve their purpose, take into account how Bryz was good on the second and third chances. Such chances were a rarity for Broduer to face throughout. The Flyers never tried to exploit his diminished ability to recover.
- JoeRussomanno

Completely on side with this. I have respect for Brodeur, and for sure his puck handling helped, but Bryz kept us in game 2 single handedly. It was 1-0 til the third because of him (PS, I thought we had them on the ropes when we scored early in game 2). Game 3 he was ok, game 4 he made several great saves to keep it close.

As long as it's Kelly McGillis from 30 years ago. Time has not been kind to her.

In the grand scheme of things, I saw a goalie who was good enough for us to win a cup with. I just think that's all that should matter. Our team was getting dominated by a meat grinder of a forecheck and he kept us in it like you said. Also the Flyers defensive commitment is nothing like any of the teams remaining in these playoffs. Bryzgalov will have to raise his game or increase his consistency but just as important the team has to play better. I don't know why it is so hard for people to understand.

I think we'll see a much more comfortable goalie next year. This to me has been an adjustment year and now he knows what to expect. People writing him off are crazy IMO and just seeing what they want to see. I think we saw what he can be in March. If he can just limit the lows and be more consistent, I think we're in business..

I'm a fan of the Bryz. I got ridiculed by friends and family(especially my father-in-law) for his play at times and his quotes because he was "my boy". But no one smiled harder at the end of the season than myself. Yes, he could have played some better games during the regular season. And yes there some goals against Pitt that could have killed us. But the saves he did make were on par with robbery at times, he is a very small reason we didn't win against NJ. Team play and intensity I think take that cake. However, I think the team has the best chance to win in the next 3 or 4 years with him in net rather anyone we have had in the past 15 years.

Yeah, that probably wasn't necessary on my part. 30 years is 30 years.

Can't say it's been a day at the beach for me, either.

Since Esche's great year in 04 (guy had like a 2.04 Gaa) only goalie to put up better numbers than Bryz when playing more than 30 games is Bouch but bouch only played half the games Bryz did and he had a healthy Pronger in front of him most of the season. I really think the haters are just bashing him because it's like a self given pass to make themselves feel better about their team losing, if that makes sense. Like "Oh we coulda won but our goalie sucked so bad" meanwhile the guy actually kept them in the game and there were other aspects really causing a problem.
Oh and the talk about his salary, well aren't there other players on this team that are paid handsomely? What's their excuse, because if it was injury, I got news, Bryzgalov battled with injury too this playoffs.

That save on Letang was one of the best I have ever seen. A highlight of this playoff run, but of course no one will remember that..only the game 5 gaffe.

I just think people who don't watch the game closely, or play the position, don't really have a solid idea. I don't obviously play pro, but I have played for 26 years since I was little. The position is 90% mental and about your confidence. I couldn't imagine the fishbowl he felt like he was in. I think sometimes if it was me, I would almost want to pull a Bob Esche and not talk to anyone. You have to be so focused (especially I imagine at that level) to play your best. You can nver get too high or too low. You have to also have a VERY short memory. All these things would be hard if someone was always in your face saying.. you're great! You suck or discussing a bad goal over and over.

All in all (...it's just another brick in the wall....) I'm happy with Bryz's play this season. Does that mean I want to see him play better? Absolutely. And I fully expect him to do so.

I think this team is in for big things next year. Schenner and Coots and the other kids are only gonna get better, and I just hope we ink Czech longterm....

A guy capable of 2nd pair duty, but would initially be slated for the 3rd pairing, if all else are healthy.

It would also be a good way to help control Kimmo's minutes throughout the season.

- bradleyc4

would love all six guys to average 18-22 mins next year.

I think they need a guy who is a threat from the blue line AND has a right handed shot.

Grossmann gives them the size and crease clearing D man they were missing.

Coburn is a little bit of both a puck mover and defender, but doesn't reliably get his shot through.

Carle and Kimmo can both move the puck and are good set up guys. Getting pucks to the net, well they both leave something to be desired.

They miss the Pronger one timer blast.

Mez has a little of that in his game.

If it comes to getting another defenseman, do you want a defense first player or a guy with a good shot who could play point on the PP?

Going along with this, I just want to say that, being a hockey player myself, I get so frustrated with the fans bashing Bryz for not making the saves in the midst of blown coverages/terrible D. I say this because I can recognize this kind of stuff even as it develops during the game, live.

I just can't stand that. It makes want to hit someone

yes. they NEED a defenseman with a shot next year. Whether its Meszaros or someone else, it's a priority, imo
