Rumors are that Burke will offer 2 1sts and a 2nd for E.Kane,
More to come - Canada Cup
Really? Do the haters have to use that every time a player comes available, whether or not the Leafs are interested? Seriously, it's getting really old.

where would Kane fit in Montreal, they have an ambundance of wingers, it's down the middle that is the problem. - Alexzanki
Are you joking? Which abundance are you talking about? Right now we have Cole and Patches. The two of them make a great 2nd like with DD. We have no one to play with Pleks. Pleks needs a couple of top 6 wingers to play with, and he has zero chemistry with Gionta who is small and past his prime. I think trading Gionta in the summer would be a good plan. Obviously Gomez cannot be back. If we can offload Bourque, we should. If we can, we sign Moen.
Put Kane on a line with Pleks, as well as maybe an RFA signing like Parenteau.

won't be there at 5th most likely
Assuming Yakupov, Galchenyuk and Murray are done. Who should Burke pick? - Symba007
I like Dumba but we NEED a forward....If Grigs is there, I take him.....if the Isles or Habs snatch him, it would have to be Forsberg imo. |

LOL. Ek do you REALLY think Winnipeg will trade Kane??? Lets get serious here. Unless its for Pacioretty or Price, it aint happenin. - Sabreshark
I think it depends on how happy he is in Winnipeg, and that has been doubtful. But I agree the Habs are not the most likely trading partner.

Does he want to be in Winnipeg? I love that they got the Jets back, but that is not the finest city to live in, especially when you grew up in a great city like Vancouver. - CaseysHabs
He seems like a decent kid who genuinely enjoys the game. I can't see him asking to be dealt. He seems comfortable there, but you never know. Plus he's still young....wouldn't look good on a young player to start demanding where he plays or doesn't play. *cough* Lindros *cough*

Price? LOL Thanks but no thanks. I'd stick with Pavelec and Kane if I was Winnipeg. |

Actually, I wouldn't be devastated with that plan. I think we have better D-men in our system than wingers, and at present we have no one to play with Pleks.
Obviously, I would prefer a Gionta, Weber and a 2nd for Kane, but I don't see that happening.
For the record, I don't see Kane coming to the Habs.
I do see the Habs making a hard play for Parenteau if he does not re-sign with NYI, and then playing one of their prospects with him and Pleks. Either way, I'd like to offload Gionta. Watching him play with Pleks is torture. |

Same here. I don't see what incentive Winnipeg has in trading Kane. |

Turris is recovering nicely. Cody Hodgson will be fine. I think we will see more young guys wanting more say in where they play. |

Yeah but those are isolated cases where the player and team did not see eye-to-eye and the relationship was already deteriorated. All indications are that there is no problem between Kane and the Jets, although we'll see what happens with contract negotiations. Things could get strained very easily. |

The Avs would most likely grossly overpay, but I could see Kane in Avs colours.

Yeah when it comes to trading, the avs are good at selling high and buying low. Kane would be considered buying low, but I dont see anyone the avs have who is really over rated right now and I could see them over paying. |

What do you mean, it seems fair when you break it down? Gionta is the captain on a sweet deal.... well, not that sweet but he's produced to the level that the money he is paid is. Not really, but he provides that top 6 size that the jets would want anyways so thats a bonus. Leadership? Durability? He offers something doesn't he? Well, thats why Weber is tossed in there. You get a top 4 D, or top 6 D just being conservative.... okay so a a fringe D with offensive upside and.... hmm, k so maybe he isn't much of an addition but that second is one of the top picks in the round. When you break it down, the deal almost makes itself. |
