So trade some youth forwards for a young future Number 1 D, and then sign someone like Gaustad, Stoll, Konopka, Pandolfo, or Langenbrunner.

I have to say... I would be intrigued to see a Talbot, Konopka, Rinaldo line. Or maybe even Talbot, Konopka, Simmonds...

- RooNosHockey

Konopka and Rinaldo. Great idea. They can alternate going to the penalty box.

As it stands I dont want Rinaldo here next season. A guy like lappy helped coach carcillo and mentor him. As soon as lappy was gone carcillo went back to being even more stupid. Rinaldo is too much of a liability.

I'll post this one more time before I head out, I would make the following moves.

Trade for Clutterbuck and sign Pahlsson cheaply to fill the need's on offense. Unfortunately be forced to overpay for Suter. Trade Bobrovksy, JVR and let Jagr walk.

Take a peek into Subban.

Thats what I'd be looking to do. With that off to go fishing. Take it easy hooligans.

What is this fascination with Pahlsson? He's just about cooked.

I realize where the inconsistency of the D men comes from, or at least a large part of it. Play committed team defense as a 5 man unit, and see what a difference it would make with the iconsistency of the defenseman. Far too mnay poeple don't look at the full picture. They just look at the end result, and sayu it must be the defense. It's a team game. I think they need to add one type of grit player, that brings a solid physical presence and can play both ends of the ice, in place of Jagr. Even without that, they certainly have the players who can play that style.
- MJL

They did that in game 6 vs the pens... with fantastic results.. they have done it sporadically through out the year..

I would love to see them pull back just a little bit... and play a safer game. They have the make up. Good speed, solid physical players... I am not a huge fan of such a run and gun make up. Exciting, sure... but its a high risk high reward style...

Both would be overkill... but I would take Konopka in a heartbeat.

I think you start with JvR and Read/Schenn then go from there.
- stveshdy

Are teams allowed to call other GM's now? If I were Homer I would call Nash and say we will give you JVR, Read, and this years first for Weber. Or JVR, Schenn, and this year's first for Weber's and Radulov's rights.

Hopefully with the improved offense that would be enough to entice Suter to re-sign with Nashville...

I know Radulov is a basket case, but I would be willing to take a chance on him for the possible payoff. I could only imagine him skating next to Giroux and Hartnell next season.

Konopka is a good faceoff guy, and a solid PK'er. He's a much more useful player than Rinaldo is.

I'd be great to hear Keith Jones talk about Radulov every Flyers' game night

Ill tell you right now, if I were Nashville, it would start and end with G.
- jak521

If Nashville doesn't think they'll be able to sign him long term, I don't think they'd be in a great position to ask for such a high price. No one will pay it, and he'll just walk away for nothing.

They do? Briere, JVR are 2 top 6 forwards. When have they played committed team defence?

I think the Briere line needs to have Briere as center. He is not very effective at wing. And at least one of the two wingers needs to be able win board battles. And they both need to be fairly defensively sound (no JVR-Briere line, please).

Yesterday a poster (ravishingone) mentioned Chris Kelly. I would not mind seeing someone like that on a Briere line. Or even Talbot. The scoring will fall but come playoff time, the team will be sounder.

Here is another take (freeing up Jagr's salary completely, but needing a 13th forward: Sestito perhaps)

JVR-Roo-Simmonds
Hartnell-Briere-Voracek
Read-Cout-Schenn
Rinaldo-Talbot-Wellwood

Thoughts?

I think JVR will be given every opportunity to replace Jagr on the top line. If he's playing with Giroux he should get 25 goals in his sleep.

If you could get them to act right, it would be great. They hit hard, create energy, stick up for the team, give 110% every night... K is good for PK and F/O... You would be able to take Giroux off the PK with Konopka, Read... Couturier, Talbot.. and Wellwood as the extra man...

Briere played on a team in Buffalo that played a tight checking counter attack style of play. Briere racked up 95 points and led the entire NHL in even Strength points. And was a plus player. Briere can certainly play on the Wing. Let's see what JVr can do when he's healhty. I also don't see Talbot as a 4th line player, but depending on depth, he may have to.

One or the other as far as I'm concerned. Konopka would be a great player to have on the 4th line. If he wasn't such a knucklehead.

Problem is everyone is focusing on the forwards....they should spend more time focussing on the defense....

Quick question if we miraculously managed to swindle weber do you guys think suter would be more inclined to sign here? Dump Kimmo and briere and the numbers work. That would be hilarious

Take away your bias. If you were Suter, and Philly, Detroit, and the Rangers offered you the same deal, which one would you like to go to, and why?

On one hand Detroit seems to be near the favorite every year, and has the reputation for excellence. They also have a lot of cap room to add more then just you. On the other hand, their team is getting older and you still have to deal with the rigors of the western conference travel.

With the Rangers you get a team that seems to be on the rise, but thier defense is already deep, and it might limit your ice-time. You also have the benefit of living in New York, and playing with the best goalie in the league. But most of thier money is tied up in 4-5 players, and Sather has a record of "screwing the pooch" Which could see you back at the bottom quickly enough.

In Philly you have the big city feel, plus the easy east coast travel. The team is young and looks like it will be good for years. The Defense really needs you, so you will be the number 1 guy. Plus the Flyers have a rep for always trying to do what it takes to win. There are no rebuilding years here. But you have to deal with over-zealous fans, a questionable goalie, and the chance that the young guys might not pan out.
