True. I was just thinking that he could be moved to free up space. Not really thinking about the summer but thats stupid on my end bc the free agent signings are going on. My bad.

The Flyers will also have to carry on their off season Cap, $603,243 for Gustafsson. And once they make Q offers to RFA's, they'll have to carry $477,703 for Bourdon, $486,486 for Harry Z. As well as $520,900 for Rinaldo. $243,784 for Sestito. And $166,162 for Wellwood. All of that has to be carried on the Flyers Off Season cap in addition to all the players signed to one way NHL contracts. And also if Voracek isn't resigned before July 1, once they make him a Q offer, they will have to carry 2.25M for him on the Off Season cap.

That adds up to $4,748,278. Plus Walker and Bartulis which is 2.3M total.

That's a total of $7,048,278. Now if the cap is 69M as Holmgren has said. The off season exemption would be 6.9M. So that is pretty much gone. Even though placing Pronger on LTIR when the Season starts would give the Flyers 13M of space to sign RFA's, UFA"s etc. They won't have that space during the Off Season on July 1. So that's the challenge

I honestly like what I saw from Sestito before he got injured. I think he could battle for a spot on the 4th line next year.
- stveshdy

Sestito played pretty well. He's a huge guy who can skate, I wouldn't be opposed to him getting a chance to crack the 4th line.

Friggin Walker. Can't believe this guy is still in the Flyers organization.

I thought he was lights out in that Boston game. He provided a lot of energy and really has the size to pound the other teams defenseman.

He ended Horton's season. That makes him ok in my book! I loathe Horton.

Probably late, but a great interview with Bryzgalov.

http://sports.yahoo.com/b...eople-only-210103643.html

I think he's going to have a really strong season next year. From what he's saying the distractions took a lot out of him mentally and hurt his focus. He seems to be much more in tune with things now and I think he will thrive.

- Jsaquella

thanks for posting that. good stuff. i'm a bryz fan, and feel his pain. forget the money. people on see that, and no cup since 'nam, and it's his fault. the guy could have given up 5 goals in the series and he'd still be to blame.

my dream off season for the flyers:
timonen retires (he's still good, but not for his cap hit)
pronger is amnesty bought out and retires
jvr is traded for the 8th and 38th picks
matt read is traded for a 4/5 dman
flyers sign zach parise and ryan suter
trade bob for backup and 3rd round pick
lines look like this:

parise-giroux-hartnell
voracek-briere-simmonds
schenn-coots-talbot
wellwood-cousins-rinaldo
suter-meszaros
coburn-grossman
carle-dman from read trade or bourdon or lilja

the player i want from the 1st rounder from jvr trade is jacob trouba.

I understand where Bryz is coming from but at the same time he took it for granted thinking he would be able to handle the pressure in Philly especially as a goalie. I still think he is going to be fine. He knows what to expect heading into next season.
- stveshdy

i don't know necessarily think he took it for granted, but perhaps it's a case of you don't know what you don't know.....you know?

That's not the problem. He can handle pressure. I think he underestimated the level of hatred he'd get...There's a lot of loud, stupid people out there.
- Jsaquella

and in here!

It would be easier to tell you what is realistic. Because a lot of it is unrealistic.

I dont disagree but you have to realize coming in that every single thing you do is going to be looked at under a microscope. The Flyers have been searching for years for a legit goalie. When you sign that kind of contract you cant expect everyone to love you.
- stveshdy

not sure i agree with they've been searching for years. when you sign the likes of cechmanek, hacket, biron, and emery as starters and stop looking for goalies high up in the draft it's hard to come to that conclusion. they've gambled. a lot. bryz is really the first guy you can say they've acquired who could legitimately fit the bill of a #1 coming in.

agreed about the $. and because the cap is so much a part of the game now, it's an unavoidable topic from the fans' perspective.

As long as Timonen can play, he will play. The guy wants a Cup. He won't retire to do us a favor.

you don't think a team would give the 8th and 38th picks for three letters? how about the 8th and say 68th?

good point, but isn't his body breaking down? does he really want to go through all of that again for $2mm?

i'm just gonna laugh at that one. what would you consider a reasonable return for 3 letters? do you think he's available this summer if another team asked?
