I understand where Bryz is coming from but at the same time he took it for granted thinking he would be able to handle the pressure in Philly especially as a goalie. I still think he is going to be fine. He knows what to expect heading into next season.
- stveshdy

I don't think he took it for granted. He was just confident in himself and his abilities. And I don't think he has ever been exposed to what he was exposed to here, when you take it all in including the WC and 24/7.

Ya wanna know how I got these scars

I still think the queen of SNL would make a great Ice girl for my favorite Ice hockey team (at least it's remotely hockey related)

- JoeRussomanno

Don't know if you go to games. But they use the Philly is better than Boston thing from 30 Rock on the jumbotron.

this is the only definition I know, sir.
sur·vive (sr-vv)
v. sur·vived, sur·viv·ing, sur·vives
v.intr.
1. To remain alive or in existence.
2. To carry on despite hardships or trauma; persevere: families that were surviving in tents after the flood.
3. To remain functional or usable: I dropped the radio, but it survived.
v.tr.
1. To live longer than; outlive: She survived her husband by five years.
2. To live, persist, or remain usable through: plants that can survive frosts; a clock that survived a fall.
3. To cope with (a trauma or setback); persevere after: survived child abuse.

- JoeRussomanno

We could survive without hockey. The point isn't couldn't they survive. It's would they thrive.

What were the final injuries revealed from all the Flyers that were nursing something? It's crazy sometimes to read the stuff players play through.

They said there's a few players that will be getting MRI's in the next few days to determine extent of injuries. It's assumed that Briere, Timonen and JvR will be getting surgeries in the next week or so.

Thats kind of my point with him taking it for granted. Like he said in that interview you really have no idea until your actually in it. He underestimated (or took for granted) that his abilities would just pull him through. This town isnt Anaheim or Phoenix everything he does is under a microscope. Just my opinion though. You dont have to agree.

And probably Grossmann (who first said he was, then said he needed to talk to Homer, but I'm sure that was just because he realized he'd talked out of school).

Until you live it, I think it's hard to understand it. Loud, vocal and idiotic fans, people wishing you physical harm on the ionternet, moronic writers that twist every word you say into something.

Hell, look at Holmgren joking that this isn't Comedy Central. A little throw away joke became the headline

I forgot Grossmann, he was one of the 4 mentioned earlier.

Add all that together and then the biggy his contract which was large. He is going to have more pressure than any other player coming into the season as a Flyer.

I certainly don't disagree with what your saying. I think that however you put it, there was a lot of off ice things that he let affect him. I think he'll be better prepared next Season.

And 90% of the gibrones won't bother to see or read the full presser, so they'll be spreading the Homer hates Bryz word.

Jake's shoulder is one of the ones I'd heard mentioned, I think by Bill.

That's not the problem. He can handle pressure. I think he underestimated the level of hatred he'd get...There's a lot of loud, stupid people out there.

From TSN.ca:

Holmgren gave oft-injured forward James van Riemsdyk a "huge incomplete" for this season: "There was something wrong with him all the time."

Nice choice of words.

I'm sure this gives Brzy at least a little breathing room at the start of next season, as JVR seems to be the front runner for 2012-2013 whipping boy.

I dont disagree but you have to realize coming in that every single thing you do is going to be looked at under a microscope. The Flyers have been searching for years for a legit goalie. When you sign that kind of contract you cant expect everyone to love you.

People are gonna say stuff about bryz, but after reading that, gotta say, Dude is smart. He hit the nail on the head with this town. Thing is it's a shame. For all the patting on the backs we do as fans, we are probably our own worst enemy.

Like how he pointed out the team doesn't get down on him for bad goals because he doesn't get down on them for missing empty nets, I'd think hitting an empty net should be easier than stopping a moving hockey puck, but that's just me.

- JoeRussomanno

Bryz is a highly intelligent guy. He very introspective and philosophical, this leads him to be misunderstood by many, especially the mental midgets that cover the team

True, but we both know that the stupid can run deep in Philly. I also doubt he expected the media to be as vicious as it was.

I do like how Homer said Jake needs work on his shooting. He also work on his offense. So I wonder if this was his sly remarks towards Jake's agent (like were not overpaying for Jake).

That part I agree with you. He's never had to experience a vicious media like Philadelphia. Its a learning experience and I think he will only get better from it.

I don't want to get into an entire Media discussion. But the most disappointing thing about the Philly media, is the agenda they have. From the print, online, and radio. Their agenda isn't to tell the story unbiased and offer the facts, and report what happened. Their agenda is to create controversy. Because they feel that generates readers and listeners. And the biggest issue is, most of the public buys the nonsense. And when it comes to the Flyers, there is no doubt who the ring leader is. They've all sold themselves to try and survive. You see it on Comcast, WIP and in the papers. I'm disgusted by how the Media has evolved. Thank God for guys like Bill Meltzer. Who backed by the knowledge he has, simply tells the story. And his agenda is to inform and fill his readers in on what's going on, and his take on it. Without bias. Instead of drifting towards being more of a gossip columnist then a Sports Blogger or reporter. And I think Bryzgalov fell into their trap. As did past players here recently.
