I agree. I do love Jake as a player, and consider him part of the core.

This team has enough goal scoring. If we add a forward, we need a hard nosed two way Winger. That can play well in both ends of the ice, and is strong on the puck. And can chip in some offense. This team doesn't need a high cap hit expensive player such as Gaborik.

Kubina hasn't been a good PP defenseman in a number of years.

That to me, at least financially means they have to let Carle go. I do appreciate a lot of the things Carle does, but I do have to admit when it comes down to it, I am on the side that would rather pay Suter 7 million than Carle 5.5.

I would personally be targetting guys like Clutterbuck and Pahlsson for these roles. Or similar players.

When you break it down like that (Carle at 5.5 and Suter at 7), it puts things in perspective. We have enough depth at forward to make the extra 1.5m worth the while. Quite the no brainer.
