He played the exact same way in Montreal when Markov got injured, it was night and day, and he wasn't the reliable dman we all thought he was. It was a shock to hab fans at the time to see him struggle so badly.

Have any idea how much a player, especially a young dman learns in the NHL in 2 years? Like Symba said Komi and Phaneuf are supposed to be in their primes and should by now know better, their ways and bad habits are likely set now, but Schenn still has some learning and adjusting to do, yeah, he has been in the league for a few years, everybody's learning curve is different, or why else would we have to explain this to you 5 times in every thread?

Not sure why the insults need to hurled...signs of a flawed argument....like the one that proposes we have a soft spot for players that we drafted.

I'm looking forward to see how Carlyle's system will help improve Schenn's lack of hockey IQ, footspeed, forward vision, or shot...

I cut Schenn slack because hes led the Leafs in hits since he was 18, not to mention being 1 of 2 players with any gonads on the team.

No, you are, in fact, the perfect example of why Leafs fans have become a joke. Because the Leafs have a 23 year old, defensive defender, who plays in a defensive system, who has proven he can lead the league in hits, who has proven he can play 20+ minutes per night, who has proven he can be an actual top four shut down defender and yet you, for some ass backward reason, some how find a way to blindly hate him and label him as a 5th defender at best. Why? Because you prefer Franson, a guy who has proven nothing other than being an older, slower, dumber, softer player who has never proven he can be a top four defender in the NHL.

Depends on a lot of things but at 24 years old, you can't say he's finished. He's had two good years and two bad years. That's a lack of consistency, not a lack of talent. Consistency comes with experience. If it takes him until he's 27, so be it. The important part is that he isn't regarded as a 5th defender for life at 23.

How long did it take Dan Girardi to become who he is today? At Schenn's age, he was still a rookie. Look at him today at 28. Was it worth it?

Unfortunately, that's what it's going to come to I'm afraid...GM's are wise to Schenn....which is why Burke was fielding calls for Gardiner this past trade dead line...
