Do we need to discuss the difference in odds of success between 2 firsts and a second vs. a 6th and a 7th.

Horrible analogy.

Burke lost the trade because he completely blew it on his estimation of how well the entire team would play AND the coach. It was a total misread.

Now the trade looks horrible, and it was. Burke made a mistake.

Agreed, he lost the trade.

But he got Kessel, a very good palyer out of it.

Who won the Phaneuf trade? Did CGY get any useful players out of it?
Who won the Lupul trade? Is beauchemin more valuable than Lupula nd Gardiner now?
Who won the Kaberle trade? I'd sayif BOS hadn't wont he cup, would this even be up for discussion?
Who won the Franson trade? Did NAS get useful players out of it?

YOu see what I mean?

Hate to go all out there on this, but wouldn't more ice time concede the fact whether he is or isn't indeed a top 4 dman? Food for thought i guess?

Not if you are on a crappy team with no D.

This is true.
Considering Burke could have had Kessel for Kabs and Kadri....he made a HUGE mistake!

All those trades don't change the fact that Kessel is one dimensional. And really the only guy that I can get truly excited about is Gardiner.

None of those trades produced our center center and possibly a future top dman (maybe gardiner)

Thought maybe Colborne would be that future centre but he's stumbled....

I wouldn't have much of a problem with Burke if he came in and preached patient rebuild. But he did the opposite and it blew up in his face.

Gardiner, Ashton, Kadri, Colborne, Ross, Frattin, Blacker, Biggs, Scrivens... These are all players I am excited about, and are players that will end up playing roles on a team that you NEED to make the playoffs and attempt to win a cup.

Like I said, who cares what he preaches to the media, just follow his moves... Since the Kessel trade he has done nothing to hinder the propect depth we have. He has only added to it immensly.

Franson #6, Blacker #5, Schenn #4, Liles #3, Gardiner #2, Phaneuf #1,

Now, say he is able to somehow in the next 2 years sign a guy like Suter.

Does:

Phaneuf-Suter
Schenn-Gardiner
Liles-Blacker

Look all that bad to you?

Center, we could draft as soon as this year. If not, we will have to see what Burke can do.

I guess. Don't know how many will actually have an impact.

Making Dion captain really shows me his judgment should be questioned.

I persoonally am not a fan of Dion, but then again, none of us really know what he is like in the room.

This is one of the reasons I can't wait for 24/7... I want to see some of these players for what they are like off the ice.. Will give me a much better ability to see what Burke sees in some of them

The tone of all leaf threads here is set by one poster....it's like night and day depending on that poster's presence...but then again i'm sure you already know that as well as everyone else on here.....including said poster

2nd line centre at the very best. There was a reason he was available as part of the Kaberle deal. Hope I'm wrong, but I'm not excited by Joe Colborne much.

I think another season with the Marlies and we will know what we have with him.

Injuries and wanting to be defensively responsible took away from his offensive side, he has shown flashes, now he needs consistency to his game.

Agreed.

Leaf fans write people off too quickly..

Look at how he did at the beginning of the year.. Letting him adjust to the defnsive side, then having him try and find the offensive game again is not that unlikely. Not a guarantee, but not unlikely.

Are you implying that we be patient while developing players in Toronto? Cuz if so...

Option A) Player Development

b) Cars (I think? I'm too into this roast beef sandwich to notice)
