Listen, as far as I'm concerned. Hamilton, Seguin and Knight were non existant when the trade was made. Burke DID NOT trade those players for Kessel, he traded the draft picks that turned into Kessel for those players. BLINDING difference right there. And moreover, Kessel's shown more to his game than what was first expected... The guy's also got some slick playmaking skills... How many teams lament a PPG player on their team?

Ya, Kessel will never be a PF, but damn he can score and he can make plays. I'm quite happy with him doing his thing and finding another talented player that can be the PF....

If a team had dealt Detroit a 6th and 7th round pick 10 years ago for a guy like Holmstrom, would they have lost the trade because the team ended up drafting Datsyuk and Zetterberg?

Its obviously a good idea to keep trying to draft as high as possible each year, but not at the cost of tanking and creating a "not so winning" atmosphere. Its tough to find the balance between keeping your club/players competitive while also ensure you can improve the team with youth/draft picks down the road.

While I dont think Burke has done a GREAT job at this so far, I do strongly believe hes on the right track is merely trying to restock the team to a point where it should have been before he took over. Now that hes essentially reached that point, imo, he can now start tweeking the roster more and more and begin to see his young players come into fruition.

As mentioned, its been long and rough, but patience could pay off for this club in another 2 years or so.

I agree, but I think that if leafs dont make the playoffs next year, bruke is goine sadly. The next GM will then use the pieces Burke put in place to make us competative, and he will be hailed as a great GM even if he has done basically nothing.

Burke will be cast as a terrible GM even if he does everything right this year.

Gunnarsson wasn't bad either. Don't think he exceeded expectations but wasn't absolutely horrible either, considering the circumstances.

Agreed, he is what he is. He will never be a superstar, but all we need from his is consistancy and smart defensive plays with the odd offensive chip in. He's doing just that.

I honestly think that its only the fans who think he should be fired, or will be fired, if they dont make the playoffs. Any non-emotional person within the org. should be able to substantiate that what he's done so far, aside from maybe the Kessel deal, has been good for the club long term.

He was given a quarter of a lemon, and still found ways to make lemonade, albeit a bit sour, he's saving up for some sugar

Marlies looking pretty good in the playoffs, they will make the conference finals at least. For the Leafs's sake and Brian Burke keeping his job, they will need these players to be able to make the jump from the AHL to the NHL.

Well my x-box died so I shipped it back with the warranty back to the manufacturers. Shipping it back to Canada I'm just hoping they don't screw me over.

Problem is, Colborne is injured and hasnt really been playing so that kinda sucks. Hoping Kadri uses this experience and summer to get himself a full time spot...hes at the point where he needs to improve manangment and will be shopped.
