I'm not trying to be pessimistic... but I have a hunch neither Parise or Suter are going to Detroit next season. Both of their respective teams have already publicly stated they are going to do everything possible to keep those players. And I don't want Holland doing any more of these stupid 7, 8, or 9 year contracts.... that is insanity.

So... plan B I assume is to go after Semin. But I'm still not convinced he's the power forward they really need. He would be a nice addition though... (I think he's a right-handed shot and the Wings definitely need that).

Unfortunately, in order to win you need some big names. in order to get the big names, you have to dole out stupid contracts. Its like this for all teams. Pay a guy for 6 years hope he helps you win it in one of those years. maddening!

Right there with ya. I'd like to see us take a shot at Wideman. He'd be available for a decent cost. Even Matt Carle. It's funny, any bigger name that is going to be a free agent, the Red Wings automatically get lopped into the group of favorites to where these players may end up.
