A huge red flag was how his play deteriorated as the season went along. Otherwise overall we certainly got value for his contract.

Sign him for 2 mil and ask him to report to the team 1st week of Jan

Is this Pronger news conference story legit?

Not sure if its true or not.

If there's a lockout, that may be the beginning of the season.

Oh man please dont use that word "lockout". Another one could ruin the sport.

If he was feeling much better, they would wait till at least the middle of summer to say anything. If he took a downturn, they would not say anything at all. Only reason I can think of is that he is 'voluntarily' giving up the captaincy and is 'showing improvement' but there are 'several issues' etc.

But Homer would have the upper hand here, I think.

Depending on what the Thomases and the Luongos of the world go for, the price for Bob might go up by "default" for lack of a better term.

I'm thinkin that if you're a team like Columbus or Toronto that is in rebuild mode, you'd pay for the Bobs of the world, not the Luongos or Thomases.

But hey...this is all pure speculation....

Or the Berniers, Neuvirths or other young goalies that have more of a track record than Bob or who were former high draft choices

It's the season ending news conference, not specifically for Pronger. Holmgren will talk Pronger, but he's also going to address a lot of other topics.

ok that makes a lot more sense. I assume there will be nothing new on that front.

It was mentioned that there would be a Pronger update, but it was not the focal point of the press conference.

have to pick your poison. we're pretty loaded up front...esp at center. 6.5 MM to pursue a dman or 2 would be the priority.

It's simple in my opinion. If you can't move Timonen to a team like Anaheim than you amnesty him. Love the guy, but man is he done.

Kinda surprised this stayed as uncannibalistic as it did. I know the Veggie man tried taking a bite out of his fellow fans, but I loved the responses.

I cannot think of an offseason where the Flyers hadn't had to do a whole lot. It's just weird talking about adding complementary pieces. Of course, that is subject to Pronger's status. It'd be great if he can come back and remain healthy, but I have serious doubts.

I am proud of the entire season as a whole, even as frustrated as I was Tuesday night, walking out of the Well for the 4th year in a row watching another team end the Flyers' season on home ice.

EDIT: If no one saw this article, it was great:

I agree about Bob being traded. His salary cap hit is high for a back-up, can get a veteran back-up (Boosh type) for just about half salary. Let Hovinen start with the Phantoms and start every night. Looking forward to see the big guy in net.

That depends on if there is a Bonus Cushion next Season.
