Brodeur was a huge factor in the way he moved the puck and kept the Flyers from getting a forecheck going. It was like having a 3rd defenseman back there.

that's not why they lost. the devils, and marty didn't beat the flyers because he handled the puck. as i just stated in another post, i did overlook that, but it's really not the reason. i wouldn't call it huge. and again, i put his involvement in moving the puck more on the flyers for their poor execution. he did nothing spectacular in getting behind the net and stopping it.

No question that Brodeur's puck movement was a huge factor in beating the Flyers. Not the only reason, but a top factor. He fluidly moved the puck to the right guy to create a smooth transition for the Devils, all Series long. I have to disagree with you here.

i would put at the bottom of the list of reasons. not huge. the flyers spent most of their time in their own end of the ice defending and turned over a ton of pucks in the middle of the ice. losing the battles in those areas wore them down, frustrated them and led to more mistakes.

and again, i put the onus more on the flyers for not dumping the puck into areas where they kept the puck away from him....either soft in the corners or high off the glass. he took what they gave him. and they gave him a lot.

Look on the bright side...

At least we don't have to worry about the Flyers' bullpen...

Not sure if this had been said but here it is anyway. Koivu signed for 3 mil and had 38 points this year, Jagr had 54 points and made 3.3 mil. If Jagr wants market price for his numbers, unfortunately he'll have to walk, but man do i hope he stays for the same he made this year or a lil less. Possibly loosing Jagr seems just like loosing Gagne all over again. I can't believe he grew on me so much in one year.

Due to the Devils checking, especially in the neutral zone, they had very little time to make the correct play. To put the puck in the correct places. It was a struggle all Series long just to get the puck in the Devils zone in any manner. The Devils checking was a big reason why they couldn't get the right shoot ins. The Flyers had to fight for every inch of space they got, and they got very little. And if the Flyers had been able to establish a forecheck, they would have spent far less time in their own end defending. The Flyers are a team that thrives on a forecheck, which they weren't able to generate, in large part due to Brodeur's puck handling. That is huge to the Devils, and a losing proposition for the Flyers. Take away the Flyers forecheck, and you'll probably beat them.

Emrick is the KING of prepositional phrases.

"Only 8 minutes separate these teams (from a game 7) (if nothing changes) (in the advantage) (that Washington enjoys now)!!"

Jagr was great. But I want the Flyers to tweak their mix at Forward. Less offensive skill and more of players like Talbot. And Jagr is who I would subtract to change that mix a little.

I really enjoyed having Jagr around the kids too. A team can never have enough Talbot's and Laperriere's though

phenomenal game from the caps tonight. holtby has been locked in all night, and gotten the support from his team that any goalie needs to be successful.

sad thing is the caps were 6 seconds away from now winning the series tonight. hopefully they put the dagger in this weekend.

yotes-caps cup final. yay!

Rangers are lucky this series isn't finishing up tonight.

Sick glove save Holtby.

immediately followed by an own goal.

i don't like that 93 rangers were planted in the crease behind him before the puck even got there.

It's all his defense. You can plug any goalie in their and the Caps would win.

Edit: This is a joke.

Watching the Caps Rangers game. Troy Brower is an example of the type of player I want instead of Jagr.

Caps are the only team from the East I can cheer for... Game 7 should be exciting. And the Caps fans have had some good playoff hockey down there in D.C.
