Also, nice to see morons from other fanbases trolling us, rather than alleged Flyers fans. Makes for a nice change of pace.

The harvesting of sorrow will be at record levels if Richards and Carter lift Lord Stanley and bring it back to Philly for a parade.

Well, for those of you that haven't badmouthed / hated one or both, you can look at it with pride that your child / children grew up and became Kings with rings.

If you didn't like one or the other, I can see how that'd be the last thing you'd want to see happen.

A bigger concern moving forward is the inability to beat team that forecheck hard and defend well.

Regardless of the opinions of some, in the 4 losses to the Devils, Bryzgalov allowed a single bad goal. The Flyers managed to score 7 goals in the 4 losses. Bryzgalov had an up and down season to be sure, but there were a lot of factors to that, that have been hashed and rehashed. I have faith that he will rebound and be fine.

But getting back to my big worry, the Flyers struggled against teams that did what the Devils did all season long. The coaching staff failed to make adjustments in this regard for most of the year, and the players really didn't execute well against teams that had a sustained forecheck.

Thats something they definately will have to continue to work on for next year.

Every goal last night was soft. He cost them the game and series
- BingoLady

Exactly what I would expect a Montreal fan to say, they haven't had a team go deep without absolute heroics between the pipes in 3 generations.

You can't expect to win games being outhustled and outchanced in every game of the series.

The only game I saw that Philly gave the Devils a good fight was the night of the OT loss in game 3 i think it was. Games 2, 4, and 5 were a tragic effort from the top of the roster to the bottom. That's what cost them in the end.

The flyers had the motivation to beat the Pens, but when they hit series #2, it was a matter of the Devils wanting it more - they're a hungry Veteran team that is in it to win, where the flyers core is young and maybe now they'll understand better what sort of desire it takes to win and just how much they have to give out there on the ice.

We watched the same exact games in games 2-5. Zero adjustments, zero execution. Players and coaches share the blame.
- PLindbergh31

The lack of good dump-ins put so much pressure on the defense!

They couldn't establish any kind of forcheck because the offense couldn't retrieve the puck.

If you aren't playing offense you are playing defense. And when you play defense you are chasing the game.

When you are chasing the game you get worn down.

This was one of the most fustrating series I have watch the Flyers play.

I was a broken record during this series, with how many time I was complaining to the TV about the lack of adjustments on the dump-ins.

Completely mind boggling.

Yes they did. They also played the Panthers in round one. The Flyers played Pitts the favored to win the cup. That series had so much emotion and energy it just seemed like the guys couldn't get the engine rev'd back up. Just a thought.
- stveshdy

Even if that is true, that is no excuse.

You have a pretty young team. Energy and passion should not be an excuse.

I think had you played a tougher opponent the first round, you might not have run into as many problems the second. Completely different style it seemed.

I'm really starting to believe that the first round series against Pittsburgh took a lot out of them. Even with the seven days off. That first round matchup was like an ECF series. No excuses though because you have to come back next round and get the job done and they didn't.
- stveshdy

It happens. Disappointing end to the season, but lots of good things happened this year. Pronger's career ending hurts a lot more than getting bounced in the second round.

Not going to argue with you because your right imo. Have no choice but to take it. Congrats on your win.

I do not consider it Devils beatdown. Simple goal here or there would've changed the series. This did not happen and to simply say a beatdown is misinformed.

the flyers were thoroughly outplayed and out coached. the devils forced the flyers to play with a combination of precision and pace they've rarely displayed this yr. their breakouts were sloppy, the forwards were exposed for their lack of solid positioning and the goalie hurt himself with his lack of puck handling ability more than his play between the pipes.

this series also exposes why players like Karlsson are in such demand on a teams back line and going forward it would behoove the flyers to acquire their version of this type of player...it won't be easy.

...and yes they did miss pronger as NJ seemed to have free reign in front of the flyers net with a less than healthy grossmanN and no mezzy till game 5. I noticed that parise didn't have that look of frozen fear he had 2 yrs ago against pronger. at this point however, the puck mover is the greater priority if most of the d comes back intact...sans pronger unfortunately.

You gotta root for Flyers West. It's basically an extension of your team. We are extended family if you will.

Same with the Oilers.

Yes young guys but Briere, Talbot, Jagr, Hartnell, Timmonen and a few others should be able to rally the troops. Habs had good success with young guys and a few vets thrown in especially in 86.

Hello sir,

It was a great season for a team I wasn't really expecting to make it to the post-season, let alone the second round.

All in all I think this was a great experience for the kids and I look forward to next season. I would like to see the kids hit the weight/work-out room and build-up their body strength and conditioning.

Flyers have a bright bright future in front of them! Look at the age of some of their best young players, good times ahead for sure!

Schenn - age 20
Couturier - age 19
Giroux - age 24
Simmonds - age 23
Voracek - age 23
van Riemsdyk - age 23
Read - age 25
Coburn - age 27
Meszaros - age 26

I would not expect anything less. They all come out of the woodwork when the Flyers lost and disappear when the Flyers win. Love'em or Hate'em, I bet the Flyers are the most talked about team in the NHL.

I agree.

I mean look at the Kings. I think they skate as the youngest overall in the playoffs... and so far they're doing fine.
