You must be more upset Miss, this is unacceptable. There are no second chances in life.
- canadianpenfan

I was upset enough last night that I turned up the steps and didn't watch the handshake, thus missing the chance to see Giroux's class move and the Flyers uncharacteristic fan salute. But now I'm turning the page. Today is a day I will get to live only once. I don't plan to waste it crying over spilled milk.

Tweaks will be made, but the biggest key is the cornerstones for the future learning from this year. Guys like Giroux, Schenn, Couturier can use the experience from this year as a valuable lesson.

We know that Homer will make moves. But the key is for the guys that went through this year to learn from it and grow from it

- Jsaquella

You build around that core. Theres no excuse this year they just didnt have enough to get it done. Have to go into the off-season and figure out what pieces they need to try and win next season.

Yeah, because they have had the same players for 37 years....
- Jsaquella

I don't get some of these people. The Flyers have been one of the most sucessful teams in the NHL since their inception. No they haven;t won a cup since 1975. However they have missed the playoffs I think only 6 times have been in about 6 finals one of which was gaffed by a seriously blown offsides call, another appearance 25 years ago (god I can't believe its been that long) we saw them take the best team ever to 7 games after falling behind 3 games to one. Oh yea and a couple years ago we saw them make history coming back from a 3 games to 0 deficit. The Flyers are a lock to make the playoffs every year and a cup favorite. The only thing is they haven't been able to hoist the shiny trophy and have confetti sprayed on them down Broad street. I think there's probably 2 dozen fanbases that wish they had what we had. All right I;m done with the debbie downers for the day, hopefully.

If you were a "bottom line man" you would have stopped making excuses and followed another team long before 37 years passed

Maybe you have been making excuses for 37 years. But I haven't. No one is forcing you to be a Flyers fan. Wait to see who hoists the Cup in a month or so, and instantly become their fan. Your heartache, despair, and long suffering will be over

To that point the value of Jagr can never be truely measured.

From reading what Bill has written along with hearing how the players speak of Jagr, that may have been one of the most under-rated moves by homer last summer.

For the young guns to see his work ethic and attention to his body, they can only be better for it.

Little things like using your big ol' caboose to shield the puck from defenders, things that these kids will apply to their craft for the rest of their careers.

Thanks Jagr!

This really is no different then the Eagles. Until they win its considered a failure.

Yeah, pay a marginally better version of Carle significantly more money...that couldn't possibly blow up in the Flyers' faces, could it?

The bottom line for me is that I was entertained throughout the season by a team I had very few expectations for when camp opened. I have been delighted to see what they have in the young players, particularly Couturier, Voracek, and Schenn. I think Bryz showed in March what he can be and did appear to be rounding back into form after the foot healed. The growth of Giroux as a player and as a leader has been fantastic.

If I could only be happy with a championship, I wouldn't follow sports. Because you don't know until it's over who the champion will be, your chance of predicting that is piss poor, and deciding you're a fan of the champion in retrospect is a pathetic move.

It could blow up in their faces but it could also change their defensive core. Price is a huge factor (even though I think Detroit is his landing spot).

Jagr was a huge positive influence on the young guys this year. His rep as a moody guy who was a bit selfish has been destroyed. I doubt I'd bring him back-unless he took a fairly big pay cut-but the role he filled this year and the attitude he brought was huge.

Can the Eagles keep their fans and their mantra in the linc then? The Flyers as an organization, more so than any of the other franchises in philadelphia have maintained a team that is a legitimate contender year in and year out. IMo Snider and Co have left no stone unturned in the quest to bring a championship. IF they went and hired a Lacrosse coach to teach our powerplay I could understand, but we all knew before this season started this was a team that many expected to not even make the playoffs. I'm just not gonna get up in arms about this young of a squad being outplayed by that seasoned of a devils team.

I think the Flyers would love to have him back but I dont see Jagr taken a pay cut so I don't like the odds. I'm not willing to sign Jagr for that much money.
