I agree for the most part. Only discrepancy being the Coyotes. How is it explained they have gone from never winning a playoff series, to being in the Conf Finals? In one year with basically the same personnel their defensive system has improved that dramatically? Or is it a case of the Yotes' being outplayed, and Mike Smith stealing games, and series? I think it's the latter.
- PLindbergh31

Or they finally got favorable matchups, rather than drawing Detroit in the first round. We saw two years ago what getting favorable matchups during the postseason can do.

* The Flyers struggled against defensively disciplined system teams most of the season. Peter Laviolette changed personnel around against New Jersey but tactical adjustments were either lacking or simply not executed very well. Either which way, the coach has to take a share of the blame. Pete DoBoer outcoached Laviolette in the series.

Okay, So everyone that argued that Lavi wasn't out coached... Now you take your arguement up with Bill, as he said the same thing I did...

- RooNosHockey

He did out coach Lava. His team went on. Thats not the same as saying Lava did a poor job coaching.. or Lava didnt change his game plan.

Ok, I wont even read back, but I am going to guess what we've been talking about...

Trade Everyone! The team blows! JVR is terrible, Bryz is the reason we lost, and get rid of Carle!

I wish the fans would do more of this.

I don't get the "refs you suck" when you could instead be cheering on your team with the "Lets go Flyers".

Not trying to tell the fans how to act, just don't understand their logic.

Oh, definitely. Booing our players is just as bad. Is it really necessary to boo a goalie after he lets in a bad goal? (frank) that. Get behind him and the team.

I havent been around over the past few pages.. so Im not the best to answer this, but the Bryz thing you got right.

Not at all, suprisingly.

It has been a pretty good discussion of what happened and why.

I like JVR and think he will be a great player, but i think he needs to get traded cause staying here isn't motivating his ass.

He didn't score any goals either. What the hell are we paying this guy $10 million for?

Welcome to Philadelphia. Also, I dont think it always was that way with the Flyers. Eagles fans have spread their "passion" it seems.

I hate how its:
"Player A sucks.. He cant skate or shoot."

(Player A scores) "(frank)in AYYEE player A. So good!!!"

(players A goes on scoring drought) "TRADE HIM!"

Your right. And I never said those things. I said that Lavi was out coached. Whether he adjusted the strategies or not, he has to take responcibility for the players not being about to execute the game plan, and adjust to thier abilities. Lavi is a great coach. He needs some help adjusting to strong defensive teams in-game, but I see that as his only flaw.

If it's a trade that helps the team (and why would you make a trade that didn't) then I'm okay with that. You have to give to get.

A lot of those players on the coyotes had better years, they didn't play the Redwings and the drama from the team moving wasn't looming over their heads this year like it was last year. Also just my opinion but the coyotes didn't exactly look like they cared last year against Detroit and I will say Bryzgalov was much better in the playoffs this year than he was last year. Furthermore Bryz and Smith kind of swapped roles from last year. Bryz played on a less defensively aware team than Smith was playing on this year just like last year with Smith being with tampa and Bryz with Phx. However Bryzgalov still put up more respectable numbers playing in the eastern conference against the same foes that gave smith fits with tampa.

I don't blame either goalie really but I will say the teams they have played on has affected their play for sure. Also I want to throw this in real quick, you put bryzgalov on NJ and that's a monster of a team right now.

The only thing that as a devils fan I'd be concerned with is Brodeur turning back into a 40 year old pumpkin. He was barely tested against the Flyers and I think in the next round or two a team will be able to pressure him more. Other wise I think that team is sending fatso off into the sunset with another cup.
