Question, Hextall gets a Stanley Cup Championship ring when the Kings win the cup right?
- Hextall271

IF they win the cup, yes I believe so.

question:

what is your opinion on people leaving early?

I saw a few tweets last night of people ripping fans calling them not real Flyer fans because they were leaving early?

My take:
if leaving early or staying late constitutes the difference between a real fan versus a fake fan, we have a lot of misguided people.

Morganti is another one that likes to pile on and gloss over the good things. Yes Bryzgalov's stats are ugly. To just ignore after two former players one of which was a coach saying he didn't get the help he needed either, is complete ignorance. I'm sorry but the very best a better goaltender could have done is maybe extend this thing by a game. After game 4 they gave him the bluecross player of the game, then turn right around and start in on his body language. Such a clear case of an agenda there.

I think the player that disappointed me most this post season was Simmonds.

He wasn't very effective in all phases of the game.

*I am only making conversation I am not pinning the loss on Wayne or any other single player or coach*

Are you really trying to preach to us about the greatness of Nabokov? I seem to remember the same things being said of him as they are of Bryzgalov so please....
- JoeRussomanno

No way am i preaching Nabby, I was referring to how bad the Isles were in alot of games where they couldnt score goals, an Nabby had to steal some games for the Isles to win...
Wanted to see Bryz steal a game in the playoffs, which he did not do.

Also im not a Nabby supporter either, had a great year, but not gonna happen next year, just think he's to old for the make-up of the team, wish Snow would of traded him at deadline, but I do understand the kids Poulin & Nillson are not ready yet.

In a game where it is the last time you will see your team for that season, I don't know how you leave early.

You stay to salute your team for the season regardless of the outcome of that game.

I feel your pain. Only one team can win a year. I want to win so bad just to experience that as a fan. I never seen the Flyers skate around with the cup. I've been patient and I'll continue to wait. All I can ask for is this organization to try an put the best team out their possible to win the cup and I think they do that ever single year.
- stveshdy

I think our window to compete will be in 2 years. I am desperately hoping that Bryz starts to feel more comfortable on this team and starts to play a more consistent game. Now he's won a series all by himself (I beleive he won in tandem vs Edmonton in 07). I think the team is a bit cursed. You need some luck on your side to win as well. I really thought they'd get it done in 2010 and I think it may be a long wait before it happens. As long as they win before i die it's ok..

What difference would it have made if he stole a game? The Flyers weren't beating the devils even if Bryzgalov stole a game. Also you are completely undermining all the big saves he did make. I think some of you guys put too much stock in a simple cliche'. Hey how about that save on Letang in game one against pittsburgh? I think that was a game stealing save right there.

Well, they are Flyers west, and I am on board with seeing Richie and the boys win. Only downside is that we'll have to hear some people say how bad a trade it was for the FLyers. I think in a few years it may work out for us, but I was really disappointed in Simmonds play in the second round. He was non existant and I really thought the playoffs would be his time to shine.

except for the last 4 games this was one hell of a season. So sick of the fairweather attitude that has corroded all of sports. It's not just in philly with flyers fans either.

i love the naivety of thinking regarding goaltenders. do people watch any hockey besides the flyers? anyone notice that all these heralded goaltenders play behind teams that either sag and sag around their net and block a ton of shots, or own their games possession-wise and just don't allow many chances?

with his size and grit, i also think he should have been more noticable, the team imo did not play a "team style" it seemed more like "lets see who can do what with the puck"

I understand your point...
oh I was not at the game.
In years past i have stayed late and i have left early, all depending on how I feel. Plus, with the way the season goes, I will see the team in less then 3 months...

Flyers - Pens series was a scoring frenzy, so dont compare the save on Letang
Guess my point being, "so u can understand"
If the Flyers only scored 7 goals in 4 games, u needed Bryz to win a game 1-0 or 2-1 game, if my memory serves me, I think the Flyers had a lead in almost every game, I think.

My opinion of Bryz is simply this. We didn't lose this series because of Bryz. This season wasn't pissed away because of Bryz. In my opinion 24/7 was the worst thing to happen to Ilya Bryzgalov. Not only did Bryz have the local media on him all season long for his universe comments but the entire league. The guy was just trying to explain that he's a simply and easy going guy. He likes to learn and he likes to read and yet this was all used against him. I'm sure those comments about the Tigers would have been said with or without the cameras in the room. All I know is, he has one season of being a Flyer under his belt and he has to come back stronger next season.

As for the Flyers as a whole, a lot of players including Giroux just mailed it in. I think Talbot and Briere are probably the only 2 players who didn't...

- roenick97

agreed, especially about Bryz. The Flyers looked so overwhelmed in all of these games, you can't blame the only guy keeping you in it. Without Marty B's Gaff's with the puck we'd be down a hell of a lot of goals and scoring chances in the series ourselves.

Depends on the game I guess. Unless it's an absolute blowout, I'll usually stay until the end. Or at least the last minute or two. I was at the 10-3 Penguins game, and it was absolutely dead by the third. There was no crowd, and the players were just going through the motions. I figured since it was a playoff game, I'd stay through some of the third. We ended up leaving with about 5 minutes left.

Last night was different. Having seen the other 4 games, it was pretty clear by the third they weren't coming back. Kovalchuk's goal sealed it. There was no way they were scoring two, let alone one. That was the last time I'd get to see the Flyers until next fall though, so I would have stayed if it was 15-1. Most people left before the handshakes. Regardless of the play, which was embarrassing, the players got a well deserved standing ovation before the left the ice.

Just wish the rest of the fans would have resigned themselves to a loss sooner. Let's Go Flyers chants aren't helping anyone down 2 with 6:00 minutes left in the third. I'm joking obviously.. It was just obvious the series was over. Seeing people excited was the last thing I wanted to do at that point. Let me be depressed in peace.

* The Flyers struggled against defensively disciplined system teams most of the season. Peter Laviolette changed personnel around against New Jersey but tactical adjustments were either lacking or simply not executed very well. Either which way, the coach has to take a share of the blame. Pete DoBoer outcoached Laviolette in the series.

Okay, So everyone that argued that Lavi wasn't out coached... Now you take your arguement up with Bill, as he said the same thing I did...

Sarcasm Complaint Alert

Going into next year, i really hope they bring in some real talent instead of the dancing fat guy. His mojo does not work. There is no jam in what he does and he has a losing record. They have not won the cup since he's been dancing. He needs to be fired.

I agree for the most part. Only discrepancy being the Coyotes. How is it explained they have gone from never winning a playoff series, to being in the Conf Finals, in one year with basically the same personnel? Has their defensive system has improved that dramatically? Or is it a case of the Yotes' being outplayed, and Mike Smith stealing games, and series? I think it's the latter.

In total agreement....Anyone who blames the goalie for this year should be tared and feathered, then publicly flogged. They need to fix the defense on the back end also add another defensive forward.

Defense for the most part this year was horrendous. (frank) if you want to see what the results of a good defense are, look at MARCH. Bryz was the BEST IN THE LEAGUE because the team in front of him was committed to playing defense.

As far as im concerned You could have Put ROY, Parent, and Hasek in all at the same time and the result would have been the same.

I wish the fans would do more of this.

I don't get the "refs you suck" when you could instead be cheering on your team with the "Lets go Flyers".

Not trying to tell the fans how to act, just don't understand their logic.

The harvesting of sorrow will be at record levels if Richards and Carter lift Lord Stanley and bring it back to Philly for a parade.
