Landeskog was such a breath of fresh air this year. With the salary cap and teams shifting to younger players, I think we've seen some drop off on the level of defensive play. Take Dutchy for instance... He can skate like the wind, stick-handle in a phone booth and when is actually hitting the net, I love watching him shoot. But let's face it... A great 2-way player he is not (yet).
Landeskog, on the other hand, seems like he was built for the 2-way game. He is just as likely to get ten hits as he is to get ten shots on net and it seemed like Sacco was willing to play him in any situation.

Don't get me wrong... Dutch and and Gabby aren't the same type of player. I'm just saying I can really appreciate how well Landeskog has been coached and how how he has fully bought into the team concept of defense winning hockey games. He is truly mature beyond his years.

I searched far and wide for a picture of a hot chick in an Avs Jersey so I could make a crude hair-pie reference to no avail. What is the world coming to? And why don't we have ice girls?

We prefer to play hockey? Besides, they're a distraction:

...classic. Maybe if the Avs had ice girls, Anderson would've kept up his game longer in order to impress them though. I know I would...

If you need a pretty face to keep you playing well, then you're doing it wrong.

If a couple of hotties in the stands of a beer league game don't make you play a little harder, then you're doing it wrong...

Back on topic: I think it'd be a mistake not to give Landeskog the C next year. He's gritty, tough, and clutch. Put him on the top line with Duchene and a winger to be named later (crosses fingers for parise) to start the season. If they swim, great, you have your all-star line for the next half-decade. If they sink, then you get to watch sacco make scrambled eggs out of the lineup again and hopefully they'll finally can him mid-season.

I hope Hejduk decides to play one more season, let him have one last crack at it, nice for the fans to see him one more time, plus it gives Landy another year without the C before he takes it up for good.

I love Hejduk to death, but he was useless in the last half of the season. It is time for him to retire

He has lost a few gears this year, but end of the day we still need old wiley vets, and if that means another season keeping the C off one of our young guys, he is worth being in the lineup, not top 6 but limited 3rd line role is not out of the question.

Hejduk isnt a bottom 6 player, never will be. He has been a great leader but I will be shocked if he is back on the team next year
