In #Isles coaching staff news, all signs point towards Bridgeport head coach Brent Thompson becoming an assistant under Jack Capuano (first reported by Arthur Staple). Although his Sound Tigers were swept out of the AHL playoffs - in part because he had to play raw kids like Brock Nelson who were not quite ready for the pros - Thompson's work in his first year in Bridgeport was well-received. As for Doug Weight, his influence continues to grow with Wang/Snow and he intends to stay with the NYI.

I'm in 100% agreement with LGI and Chief. Why wait 2 or 3 yrs for Nino to develop into what Kane already is? Besides, Nino will never possess the Grit and toughness that Kane has.

More minor league coaches to go with a minor league head coach, GM, and Owner. How fitting.

Because the trade isn't Nino for kane...it's Nino and the first.

Kane is awesome, I'd take him over Nino 10x out of 10. He's what we're hoping Nino could be.

So far? Me too. I like Kane. But the Jets are not trading Kane for Nino straight up.

OK. So we have to decide. Will Kane be a better fit for the Isles then Nino and whoever we pick at #4?

I guess that would depend on who we choose and whether we're willing to wait a few more years for Nino and the pick to develop.

Kanes ready now. He's going to get better. Hes the kind of forward the Isles need.

He's 21(?) yrs old. He hasnt reached his prime and would be a productive Isle for many years to come. An immediate upgrade to the team. Starting right now.

On the down side. It's been reported that one of the reasons Kane maybe on the trading block is that he Drinks way to much. Drinks himself into a stupper.

If that story is confirmed. It's a damn shame.

I spent a lot of time in the car this weekend driving back and forth to Virginia for my Daughters College Graduation. For a good portion of the trip I listened to XM's NHL channel #92.

They talk hockey all day and all night. Except when games are broadcast. On One of the Shows. The Hosts discussed Evander Kane and the rumors involving him. These included, trade rumors and excessive partying. Which included drinking until passing out.

As far as I could conclude. The rumors werent substantiated by the Team. But they did mention reports from un-named team mates.

One of the hosts said the reports were overblown. That it was nothing more then having a few. On the other hand. It was mentioned that Kane was found passed out in a Club.

Who of us at the age of 21 never over indulged once or twice?

I'd still take em on our team.
